best beginner rolex?

Which rolex would be recommended for a beginner with a small budget who wants a nice watch to maintain its value (or even go up) ?

What are the models that come to mind when looking at this criteria?

Define "small budget"?

Tell us what kind of watch you are looking for?

Explorer 1 39mm

Forget the value retention/appreciation. Just enjoy the watch

What ever makes you like. If I had the cash, then I would have started out with a YG DD 40

I used to say the 5 digit explorer 2 white dial. But those went up a lot over the years. Now I would have to say no date sub

Too often I don't think folks actually try on some options before making a decision. Don't do that. Try several on! I think more often than not the new buyers get lazy and go for the Rolex default setting.....black sub. There are SOOO many more choices that just the black sub

Yes... What is your budget?

If your budget is really low - < $4000 USD....and you really just want a nice watch to wear, look at Omega or other brands.

Do your research, look at reviews, try to visit ADs and resellers to try the models that sang most to you from What you have already seen from reviews. Don’t rush it, you will certainly change your mind on the model you want a couple of times during the research phase.

Good advice for the under $4K range. You can get a heck of a deal on a lot of NEW new gray market Omegas. I bought a new Aqua Terra for about $1600 off MSRP. If you go used you will save even more!

I'd check out a DJ41 steel bezel on an oyster bracelet. If it were me I'd also choose the black dial. It stunning for looks and legible and goes with anything. That would be my one and done or GADA choice.

Since value going up important go with gmt2 model. Wait until ad has it and can sell for more money.
