Hi everybody.
I was reading this post and I checked my 1655, I'm not sure if I have a service bezel or a Mark 4, can anyone advise? Also which one will be correct for a 7.06xxxx (1981)
Thank you!

take a closer look at the 8's in your bezel -- service the bottom part of the 8 is round, on MK4 it is oval..

Personally, I wouldn't stress it though -- mk4 and service are so close in appearance. We are a strange bunch on this board -- hyper enthusiasts...

Thank you for the info! So my next question is, the MK4 would be the correct for it? Or a MK3?
I'm at a point in my collection where I try to have as much as I can period correct pieces,
so I guess I became "hyper enthusiast" :) And I wouldn't mind change it for the correct one.

Here's why i say i wouldn't worry about it -- who really knows what the 'correct' combinations (within reason) were? You have an Mk4 dial which certain resources should say stopped in the 6.5mm range (check post #4 from this thread). You have a 7.0mm watch. Does that mean it's incorrect? Who's to say...

If you had a 2.9mm serial watch with an MK4 dial, we'd know it wasn't correct. With yours, i certainly wouldn't say that about the dial.

And as I said, the MK4 bezel (which i'd say is most likely the 'correct' bezel based on your serial) looks very similar to the 'service' bezel, which for all I know could have found its way on to watches as original (others may have better view on this).

BTW, i am a reforming (not quite reformed) hyper enthusiast myself and the 1655 in particular is helping me to relax. I have an mk2 dial with a 2.77mm serial when certain resources would say the dial started at 2.9mm. I've come to the conclusion that it could very well have left the factory this way...and have relaxed...
