Parking Tickets.... and your significant other

So my wife thinks getting parking tickets and throwing them away makes it magically disappear, fines and fees of over $700 in a month and an almost booted car in my own parking spot jeez. What about you guys and your significant other or your kids, any horror stories lol

Wow.

Get pulled over some time and they do the check and guess what you have a warrant out for you arrest.

Off to jail for a visit.

Or they do the check as they follow you some night and you had a couple of drinks at dinner.

DUI AND.......

Off to jail for a visit.

Not a smart use of your time.

Wife got a camera ticket, had her parents pay it, I uncovered this over the holiday season. We all got a chuckle.

An ex had a similar mindset that seemed to culminate once into a screaming match with a motorcycle cop when he told her he was going to impound her car. It was indicative of how she handled other aspects of her life. Needless to say it was a short lived.

I got one outside a restaurant a few months ago right after daylight savings time because I assumed it was so much later than it really was. Felt stupid, but later learned 4 others did the same thing that night. I agree with Blansky, just promptly take care of it, no reason to risk something else or getting towed/booted.

No issues here.

Maybe a NYC thing to toss out municipal violations and pay one time during tag renewal?

Tossing those tickets will eventually catch up to her.

Do you not have the system where the fine is reduced 50% for ‘prompt payment’

My wife stopped getting parking tickets when I explained how many pairs of shoes she could have bought with the fines we paid out. Hasn’t had a ticket in 10yrs and closet is now full, lol.

They are like supermarket clerks here, they run to the registration and scan it like they are ringing you up. Your lucky if they can even tell you the make of the vehicle.

Yep. Once its scanned, it very hard/almost impossible to dispute. The old paper ones at least the writing could be messy and you could get off. Any devices in new york that cover or obscure your license plate are also fines.

You city guys. Parking tickets? Who needs em?

Just move the the country and park your truck on the lawn. Right next to your couch.

I was left speechless as, after she had reversed into a stationary Royal Mail Van, my wife said, "It was the Postmans fault, he doesn't normally park there."

We have toll roads in Chicago and you buy a transponder for open tolling while driving (prevents stopping at the both). Apparently, my transponder didn’t get read 6 times and they were sending the issue to the wrong address. I finally got an invoice for $1,600. I had a nice chat with a tolling rep, proved my case, and only had to pay the actual toll amount.

I always have to remind my wife to pay her parking ticket since she tends to dismiss them easily.

My first trip to Road America I was hauling a friend’s race trailer from ATL through and around your lovely town’s tollways in a blinding set of thunderstorms. I never could get over to the actual toll booths due to 18-wheelers bumper to bumper.

He nor I ever got a bill - so I guess it all balances out.

When I lived in LA in the 1980s I told a friend at a party that I'd forgotten to renew my license plate tags, which are a one inch by two inch sticker that attaches to the corner of your license plate.

Every year they're a different color and some genius after a couple of drinks took a Doublemint Gum wrapper and folded it to the correct size and stuck it on my plate. Lime green was the new color.

A couple of days later I went to my car and found it had been towed by an observant meter maid. When I went to the cop shop I was informed I could be charged with counterfeiting a government document (something like that) which is a federal crime.

I explained what happened and broke down in tears a few times, they felt sorry for me and made me pay a fine and the towing fee and proof of paying for the new legitimate tag. (Something like $600 plus the cost of renewing the tags) I'm sure they were laughing their asses off about it since I knew a few of them from working as a bouncer at a bar some of them frequented.

The Doublemint Gum wrapper was not a good investment, although it did actually look pretty legit.

Damn meter maids.

Actually, it will catch up to whomever is the registered owner of the car. The ticket follows the owner, not the user. Red light violations operate the same way, as I found out from my local court.
