Which watch will need less maintenance in time 16610 or 14060m

My brother and i were talking and i said i wish i would of bought the 16610 instead of my 14060m Submariner. I was thinking mine will probably need less maintenance in time, Because of the none date feature.

What does "TRF" think

you might not have a date failure..... but i would have gone with the date.

I prefer the 14060, not too fond of the cyclops. Also, when I look at a Rolex, I am soo mesmerized my its stunning looks that I can barely notice the time, let alone the date. :-P

Anyway, don't regret it, Bond didn't! :-)

Hi Antoine! They both need a service once every 5 years. I don't think that apart from the date feature there are any other complications that would command more maintenance on the 16610.

Buy the watch you love, and wear it all the time with a smile. Don't worry about maintenance and troubleshooting issues. Any modern Rolex is going to serve you well.

The date has a few more parts but this doesn't mean more frequent maintenance.

I do not think that one model over the other one will/would need more maintenance. Both have great movements and should only need normal service requirements every 5 years or so!!!

Would agree that a watch with many complications would require more service time.But watches with just a simple date complication service time is the same. Both date and non date subs quite capable of running for several decades with service times from 5-7 years if not used for regular underwater use.

both watches are literrally, "bullet-proof". The thing is, ROLEX recommends an overhaul x5 years; have heard of these watches goin 10 - even 20 years without so much as a pressure test.
For me, I overhaul em x7yrs and pressure test once a year since I do SCUBA with it. I come from the school of "if it aint broke..." so 7s good for me.
Both models require the same amount of work to overhaul so the addition of the date complication does not increase the price or the workload...

Something to bear in mind is that watches with date complications are almost always more popular than those without. Something I think about when perusing my beloved Flieger/B-uhr's (no date, sterile dials, manual wind ...)
That said, Panerai have no problem shifting every manual wind/no date/no second hand model they build...

I can't imagine that maintenance costs will differ significantly. And even if you wear the watch for 40 years, you might only have it serviced 5 or 6 times.

I have both the 14060 and the 16610 and I go about 8-10 years between maintenance. I wear these in a rotation with several others. The 14060 gets much less wear than my 16610. In fact, my 14060 just came back from service last week (the previous service was August 1998) and no issues were reported. My 16610 was last serviced March 2006.

EXACTLY, I have to look at my watch 2 or 3 times before I finally get the time I originally was supposed to find out that was soooooo true.

Thanks everyone i really enjoyed reading all the informative feedback,It was just one of those days that i was not feeling my 14060m but today i am loving it !
