Icon10 Haters need not reply...Rocking a new Tudor P01!

Sometimes you don't find the watch, it finds you! Thanks to TRF, discovered a new toy I didn't know I wanted until I saw it here.

Had no idea the Tudor P01 existed and probably would have gone my whole life without learning about it if not for surfing posts here. It was the thread with a P01 on a steel bracelet that caught my eye.

I like different and especially so with dive watches. Add in a unique history and it had me hooked.

There was a thread where I inquired how a TRF member who had a P01 felt it wore, his wrist size (it's a big watch) and thoughts on it?

Seeing that post, Darren (dmb359) sent me a PM saying he had seen one locally at an AD that evening and would likely be there if I wanted to see it in person. Big shout out and thanks for the tip.

I went down to the AD the next day and they did just unbox a P01 the day before so I got to try it on.

First impressions were it has this old school vintage feel about it which would make sense since it was a prototype made in the late 1960's. Loved the combo with the steel and leather/rubber strap. It was comfortable on the wrist and was at the max I felt fit me with the length at 55mm.

The SA is a real WIS. We chatted about all sort of watches for 20 min while I wore it and then made me a deal I couldn't pass on.

So, my second Tudor has been added to the herd to join the Heritage Chrono.

David, you wanted different and you got it!

This odd duck is really appealing in so many ways and the more wrist shots I see the more I'm intrigued.

Congrats, my friend!

I’m with you Dan.
The placement of the crown should be so comfortable particularly to those who wear their watch lose or in front of the wrist bone.
Very interesting strap design also.
Congrats to our OP.

It's quirky, and legitimately looks like a prototype watch. Congrats! Wicked cool piece. Enjoy.

Congratulations David

It really is a great looking watch, I have to admit I'm a wee bit jealous as I registered my interest with my AD the day it was announced. So far not a sniff of one turning up, if I was daft enough to pay a premium for one still no chance.

Anyway enough moaning I sincerely hope you enjoy your new watch for many years to come.

Doxa - out of interest, what size is your wrist?

This watch may well be a sleeper hit.

It's big and bold watch that exudes unapologetic masculinity.

Very cool and interesting watch, David. Looks like it takes a couple of styling cues from the Explorer II but the rest is definitely original.
