Can you list every job you've had?
Let's see how good your memory is, and we'll all learn a little bit about each other too!
1) My first job was at a Chinese food kiosk at the mall, Manch Wok 2) Moved to La Senza (lingerie store) 3) On to Bluenotes, a clothing store 4) Then to Garage, another clothing store 5) Then to Pogopix, a photography studio 6) Off to PetsMart as a cashier (and avid betta defender) 7) Then to Panago, a pizza place 8) Avocado Grill as a line-chef 8) Now the Walmart Portrait studio, where I've been for close to three years! 9) I guess I also need to count Weight Watchers, which I worked for a while on the scales. That was a fun job! I won't list how long I was at these places, because each one was a few months Now what about you?? |

This is like posting our resumes!
Age 14: summer church camp teen-helper. Got paid $100 and thought I was the richest kid around. Age 16: assembled patient food trays at a hospital. Age 17: started my 17 year stint as a scrub tech in the same hospital's labor and delivery department Age 21: information officer/staff writer, state department of tourism and recreation Age 27: PR manager for residential telephone customers at Southwestern Bell (hated that job!) Age 28: information officer, Oklahoma Highway Safety Office - most memorable event there: visiting the city/county jail and doing DUI patrol with city police officers. I also dressed up as a crash-test dummy on a few occasions. Age 30: returned to state tourism department, where I worked until baby-having. Also did some free-lance writing and voice work for radio ads and such.... |

Summer jobs over the years included:
- custodial work at my school (2 summers beginning age 14) - worked at a pizza place making and delivering pizzas for 2 summers - worked in the biochmistry lab at one of the teaching hospitals in Toronto, taking blood samples from patiients in the morning and afternoon and running the samples through the creatinine machine - last summer job I can remember was as a bike courier - best summer job I ever had next to the biochem job Career-oriented jobs: - Worked in the media dept at Ogilvy & Mather (ad agency) - moved to a competitive agency (MBS) - quit MBS and decidied to pursue a dream as a race car driver working at the Bridgestone Racing school for a year. Didn't pan out as a career but it is an all-consuming hobby - back to MBS until I found a job in ad sales - began working at a magazine partially owned by Conrad Black... went bust a year later - one day later got a call from the Director of Sales of what is now known as CBS Outdoor in Canada and began working there within 2 weeks. Worked in the Airport Advertising division for 3 years. - Moved to another magazine that was owned by Conrad Black - Saturday Night Magazine. I didn't like being micro-managed so left after a year - Headed over to Spafax, a multinational ad sales/publishing company that handles the in-flight advertising and publishing of many airlines' magazines and entertainment. worked on the Air Canada biz specifically. Loved this job but it only lasted 3.5 years - Went to work at Alliance Atlantis (film, television and production company). BEST company to work for but unfortunately they were acquired by Canwest over a year ago. Canwest is not doing so well right now because of a crippling debt:earnings ratio. It has quickly become a penny stock. I've been there (AA/Canwest) for 8 years but no one is sure whether we will be around for much longer. Television has been hit hard in Canada with many broadcasters shutting down or threatening to shut down local stations because they aren't viable in this economy. |

Reminded me of the movie, The Jerk
Grandmother (reading a letter) My dear family, guess what. Today I found out what my special purpose is for. Gosh what a great time I had. I wish my whole family could have been here with me. Maybe some other time as I intend to do this a lot. Every chance I get. I think next week I'll be able to send some more money as I may have extra work. My friend Patty promised me a blo& job.
