Talking about th Journe chronometre bleu and how popular it is
Well, On my instagram page I made a poll for 24 hrs
Showed 4 very popular and sought after watches and asked my followers which one they would take if they could get it AT LIST, tomorrow ..... and they were not allowed to sell it. The 4 watches were the Patek Nautilus 5711 steel blue dial, The Patek Aquanaut 5167, the Rolex 116500 Daytona and the Journe chronometre bleu Since everybody knows the Daytona, that one could have been the winner witt a wide margin. The Nautilus is by far the most difficult to get. Daytona might take 6 years at your AD a nautilus is more like 20 years. Aquanaut . didn't expect to win but a lot of us like it too and it is also very hard to get. The chronometer bleu is imo more a niche product and more known by real collectors. Probably everybody that follows me will know the daytona but I'm sure some don't even know a Journe Anyway I received close to 400 votes in 24hrs. Look at rolexforums with over 100.000 members and you'll notice that those are a lot of votes, so imo a good indication about how the market thinks Anyway, I was REALLY surprised with the result Yes, the Nautilus won but the difference with the Journe was rather small The Daytona made no chance and the aquanaut was terrible

It makes sense to me. The premium on the 5711 is insane while still reasonable on others. Also IMHO the 5711 provides the best balance between brand image, quality, sporty and dressy/elegance. The CB excels in exclusivity and uniqueness but still a niche product as you mentioned. Good poll

after the poll was closed a follower asked me to let people not between that journe and the Grönefeld Principia
He thought the Gronefeld would blow away the Journe so I did another poll Bravo FP Journe :-)

And yet I got bored of the CB more quickly than almost any other piece I’ve owned. I kept it for a while but eventually let it go.

I'm an owner of the CB and have never had the desire to flip the CB, but have sold the 2 Patek pieces in the poll as I grew bored of them. We all have different tastes, but for me, the CB is a keeper and an easy daily wearer that can be casual and dressy and the look can instantly change with a new strap. |

Thanks for sharing .. not suprised on the outcome of this one as I suspect while people are waking up to FPJ, far fewer are aware of Gronefeld Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Interesting. I’m a Journe fan and own a CB. Honestly, if I had to sell every watch in my collection I would find a way to keep the CB. It’s just on another level.
That said, I would have voted for the Nautilus in your poll since I already have the CB and a version of the Aquanaut & Daytona. Picking up a 5711 at list would be a dream come true. I will work this year on making that dream come true. |

FPJ would be my vote. My collection does desperately need a panda, I'm thinking of truly legendary designs that have great meaning and excellent customer service. Almost a tie between Rollie and FPJ, though obviously FPJ is a true connoisseur timepiece imho.

The Journe, Gronefeld, or Daytona would be the only ones I would wear unless you paid me.

Excellent poll. Surprised you didn't throw in the AP 15202 instead of the Aquanaut.
In terms of 3 hand watches from independent brands, the CB is difficult to match even when compared to Laurent Ferrier, Gronefeld, Moser et al. |

Ha same except the journe. Did try it on in the boutique but wasn’t my jam back then. I don’t actually like heavy so tantalum is not a plus for me.

I’ve emailed the Miami, NY and Geneva boutiques asking about the availability or possibility of being added to a wait list (considering the watch to commemorate my wedding). Geneva and Miami said they aren’t taking more names for the wait list. Miami said the list is 5+ years long without reference to being added to it.
The flippers of the world really kill it for the enthusiast that want to own and enjoy this watch (happens with tons of other watches too *blnr*). Who all thinks the CB is “worth” the secondary market price? Can’t find one for less than 34k. |

I wrote to the NYC to ask where I am on the waiting list. I will check my junk mail, but so far no response. Put on list about 3 years ago.

I'm on that same list. I went in person a couple months ago to inquire about my status. Basically, they don't know. The waitimes and allocation decisions are made centrally in Switzerland.

I was just at the Miami boutique today. The list was at 8 years several months ago and may be even longer now. The problem with the CB is that they can't manufacture enough pieces to meet the demand. Journe only made around 600 watches total last year, 100 of them being the CB. Unlike Rolex ADs who actually have high demand watches stashed in the back which they will sell if you buy a PM or other high priced pieces, Journe does not have the stock. So when they say the list is 8 years long or you won't be able to get one, they mean it. The other thing to consider is the possibility that they might end production of the CB at some point, given the difficulty in manufacturing the piece and the low profit margin. Will it happen before the waitlist is satisfied? Who knows? So to get back to your question. If you are not currently on the waitlist and want one, considering the retail price is 25K, plus a couple thousand or so for taxes, you are looking at a premium of about 7K and up for a piece that may be unobtainable otherwise, and that will most likely only increase in value. In my opinion, unlike some Rolexes that are not worth the secondary market price, if you can get a CB in the 30K's, I think it is worth it. |

and the new resonance release (this March) is going to be priced at ~138k that’s what happened Conservative estimate, if things keep on as they have been, 38mm releases will top six figures by mid year.
