Waited for an LV then turned it down
I have been on a wait list for nearly 2 years for an lv- I remember seeing them in the windows thinking they were ok . So get called by my ad they have one in. I go to look at it and it’s a no - I don’t really want to take it and flip it not my thing. He showed me an oyster flex white gold Daytona and that’s what I want unfortunately that was taken but the next one is mine. The hype even got me once these watched are available to see and touch hopefully people can go back to buying what they like rather than what they think they like. it’s all hype my only advice is go and look at the watches don’t believe the hype.

LVc is the watch I wear most and love it.
Good on you for leaving for someone else to enjoy. |

Nice of you.
LV is great. But I had a similar experience. Turned down my first one... but made a huge mistake only looking at it in the boutique, where the bezel looked dull, and not under natural light. Corrected that mistake. Now I love it. |

I went into an AD pre-hype for the D-Blue but came out wanting the LVc so I knew then that was for me so seeing it for real is essential, then a few weeks later the rumours took off and it all went crazy.

Thanks I think it was the Daytona that I actually wanted from day one but got caught up in the hype. Lv is a lovely watch but wasn’t for me. Once I have the Daytona I think that’s my Rolex collection done. It’s just too much hype and all the scarcity issues definitely be looking at other brands.

I would have done the same.
It's an upside down world when you deserve praise for just doing the right thing. But that's where we are now. Good on you for doing the right thing. |

You should buy what you really want. Not just because something’s hard to get. Good for you for following your heart!

Don't worry, the next in line bought it, and has already flipped it to DSW at a profit and there it is!

4 years ago I went into the AD looking for a Datejust II, when I spotted the LV in the case. Hated it in pictures but as soon as I saw it in person, knew I had to have it.
That's what makes watch collecting so great - the many differing opinions on things!

Good move. Buy what you like and only keep what you like and wear. My philosophy. I was number two on the list for the SS Daytona-C when introduced and I passed as I had owned several before in the SS bezel version and it was not for me. I tend to worry less about what others choose to do and more about me. If someone gets a watch and flips it, so be it. It is their watch.

This watch isn’t for everyone. If you don’t believe me go and search threads before the shortage and hype. A lot of forum members hated it and made fun of others for even liking it. But with fashion things go in and out of style

I recently acquired the 116519. I have stated in other posts that this could very easily be my one watch, and I’d be very content. I never get tired of wearing it. You’re going to love it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’ve turned down several hot Rolexes the last few years too. I don’t want to be in the watch (selling) business.

Its clearly not for everyone. Newcomers may not know these were the worst sellers in the sports line for years. ADs dreaded getting them. Along came the internet and the rest is history.

I truenes did the same thing and turned down a chnr not long ago. I debated for a while because of the hard to get thing and I may have decided to buy it if I already owned the Teo watched I really want but I decided to pass. Hoping one day I get the shot at the white gold Daytona Oysterflex and a steel blro but I’m not going to spend money on any others in the interim.

(I know this is not a popular opinion) I would just have gotten it, and traded it on the gray market for the daytona (or whatever watch you really want). That's the world we live in, don't hate the players, hate the game.

Kudos, I have to agree with you, I wouldn't buy to flip. I make my money my own way. It's a nice piece but not for me either. I turned down a black Daytona from my AD last year, just not a fan, got the Blnr instead. Buy what you love..
