YM at 6,750...and the Sub 4,750,
I think the Sub 16610
is the best deal... price vs collectibility/value/desireability
But...

The Sub Date is a classic watch and will always be popular. You could also look into the anniversary Sub with the green bezel insert to be a little different. But my watch of choice would be a vote for the GMT's, any of them!!!

The YM is my choice of the 3, but as a first Rolex you should get a Sub as that is the strongest selling model of those specified. However, I would go for the LV Sub, you gotta love the maxi dial.

Basically get any, you can't go wrong

well, the budget i had in mind was enough to get me either the YM or the DSSD, but if i were to get the sub instead of the YM or DSSD, i actually have enough change left to get myself the air king as well!

haha, what do you guys think about the air king?
then i can have a casual watch (sub) and a more dressy one (air king)

WHOA!! WHOA!! WHOA!! Hold on.....just a little bit.

First get the Sub pictured above.....then do NOTHING.....for a while, at least.

Then.....you start to SAVE, SAVE, SAVE......for the stunning Platty.

DON'T buy the Air-King in haste......you will regret it later on down the line....and even find it too small on your wrist.

SAVE up for this beauty......next!!! Hope this pic will convince you!!

I can attest that if you buy the Deepsea, you'll probably never need/want another Rolex ever again. PS - Rolex Canada hasn't had a price increase since May 2006. Rumour has it that prices will increase 5-10% next month on all new AD models.

Sea Dweller for me.

I love its clean lines without the cyclops lense and there's fewer around than the Sub Date. Its also out of production now, so maybe 2009 is the last chance to find a BNIB.

alright.... i've been reading up more on the submariner and i see that there's rumour that rolex will be releasing an updated version of the sub with a ceramic bezel, like the GMT IIc. or are they only leaving the ceramic bezel for the gold sub? (since i know that the currently sub in white gold has a ceramic bezel already).

is there are HUGE difference between the current sub bezel and the ceramic one?

How did you come up with those prices? Is that what the market GD price is at for a new watch? I'm in the process of getting my first Rolex and it's going to be the Platinum YM. Just want to get a sense of how low I can get it for. So far I am able to get it down to 6,900.

I have, and love, the SS/Platinum YM, but frankly that's because I'm a woman, I loved the look of Rolex's professional models (especially the TT "Bluesy" Sub) and the YM was the only woman's professional model by Rolex. If I were a guy I'd go for the Sub as the first Rolex.
