Just finished my Transitional triple play- 16800, 16750, 16550

Spent about 4 years putting it together but was finally able to cap off my 5-digit Transitional Trio!

One day hopefully I'll have more $$ to throw around but for now I'm happy with the examples I was able to source. I would have loved a crispier case on the Sub, a matte dial on the GMT Master and a cream dial for the ExII....but I guess thats what collecting is all about. Still thinking about a Triple-6 at some point too.

I was born in the early 80's so really didn't get to experience the NYC / Chicago Broker Yuppie 80's thing but for some reason alway idolized it. I picture these Bud Fox / Patrick Bateman / Richard Gere types driving their 533i's or 560SL's and wearing one of these watches. Will most likely look to acquire one of those cars at some point also

Love it! The way you described it, is exactly the way I feel and look at these watches (and the one I own myself).

I think your Explorer is the best one out there with the lume plots that have changed colour, instead of cream one.

Thanks for all the feedback team! I'm actually liking the ExplorerII on the wrist way more than I thought I would. Thinking about the entire Rolex sport line up it's interesting because the heavy hitters, Sub, GMT, Daytona, were all designed and released in the 50's / 60's and still look relatively the same today. The EXII on the other hand is a true child of the 80's. I would be interested to hear from any of the gentlemen on the forum who bought 16550's or 16570's when they first came out as to what they thought of the design relative to the times.
