SS GMT II C on Wednesday - What's included?

So, I just gave an AD nearby a call, and asked to set up an appointment to look at the GMT IIC in SS this Wednesday. Why Wednesday? It's a long story. I've seen this watch a number of times and I can't get it out of my mind! I hate you ROLEX!!!

After reading all of the posts the last few weeks on TRF, I decided that this would probably be the best time to "take the plunge" and get myself a Rolex (given the state of the economy, potential price increase soon etc.) I am going to offer cash, so if the price is right (hopefully 15-20% off list) I should be walking away with my very *FIRST* Rolex.

I am very excited, and am looking forward to Wednesday. I've decided that owning a quality Rolex watch at least once in one's lifetime is a life "necessity" ...something one should do before they kick the bucket!

So I had a few questiions for TRF members out there (especially if you have purchased a SS GMT IIC recently):

1. What exactly is included with the purchase? From what I understand, you get a watch , a box, owner manuals, owner's card (credit card style...), bezel protector, Rolex "tags" and possibly a cloth to clean the watch.

2. Do you get a COSC certificate?

3. Should I make sure that all of the protective stickers on the clasp and sides of the watch are still on? Should the price be lower if it is not on?

4. Are there any specific serial numbers I should be looking for (i.e. the year it was manufactured, the country it was originally sent to etc?). I live in Canada, so I am not sure whether it matters or not that it was delivered in Canada, or manufactured in 2008 or 2009 etc.

5. Are there any other "extras" that I should ask for?

6. If offering cash, is 15-20% discount off of MSRP reasonable in this economic climate? I live in Canada, so I am not sure if it is as similar to our U.S. neighbours.

7. Is there *anything* else that I am missing, that I should make sure I look into?

==> Sorry for all of the questions, but this will be my first time buying a Rolex, and I want to make sure that I've covered all bases. This forum is AWESOME, and I have read a wealth of great information and knowledge from all the Rolex "veterans" on TRF. Any helpful information and/or advice would be sincerely appreciated.

By the end of the week, if I have indeed made the purchase, I promise to post a lot of pictures of the watch on TRF!

Wow Wookie! I will let the venerable experts here on TRF answer your questions as they can do a better job then me, but I just want to wish you luck! Don't forget to post pics of your new Rolex!!!!!

I bought mine as a store demo so most of the protection stickers were gone. I would make sure the whole watch has the clear stickers still on her. The main case should have all the peel stickers on every part except the crown. The plastic bazel cover should be included. I would get the newest series which I think is V but someone chime in if I'm wrong. Mines a M which puts it a 2007/2008 release date. If he's an AD he should include all the papers and assessories with no questions. Check the id card against the imprints inside the bezel for accuracy.

If he's a AD you will be fine but if your paying the going price get the latest series.

Congratulations! You should at least get a minimum off 17% off MSRP......but should insist on 20. Good luck and don't forget to post pictures.

Biggums, LDLemu4U...thanks for the great advice! 3 days and counting before I get to see this beauty again, and hopefully, I will be able to walk away with it on Wednesday. I promise I will post a few pictures if I do buy it, and I will let you know how the "negotiating" went, and what was included.

I did get the plastic case the watch came from the factory. Nothing fancy just a clear plastic case and Styrofoam to hold the watch in the case. Just ask if the dealer has it but if not then it's not a big deal.

Won't make a difference to the price if the stickers are on or off. What you should do is check the watch under a magnifying loupe to see if there are any scratches or notable damage - the watches go in and out the window a lot, they can sometimes pick up little dings, which is why the stickers are there to try and limit the damage. If you're not happy with the watch, ask them to order one in for you.

Won't make any difference whatsoever what serial number letter it has. It'll either be an M or a V serial, but even if it's an older serial letter, Rolex have been known to overlap letter series. It'll still be a "new" watch, and it'll work just as well as the latest serial number. If you're buying from an AD, it will be Canadian, unless the AD is up to something dodgy.

There's not a lot to ask for, if I'm honest. If an AD has any goodies, it's purely luck of the draw, and I'd expect they'd save them for the really high-end purchases (i.e. 18Ct Models).

I can't speak for American prices, but from a British point of view, that's a phenomenal deal. If I could get that, I'd bite the hand of the AD and snap up that watch faster than you could say "Rolex".
