Platinum Daytona cost through AD

Always wanted a Platona and will only buy new.

What is the current cost to get one through an AD?

I was curious myself. Rolex site doesn’t list the price though.

You'd save a pretty penny by just going through a trusted seller on this forum when one pops up.

New IS nice.

As mentioned already, you may find a BNIB offered here, just the same.

IF you NEED to purchase at an AD, call and try Orr's or Henne's in The Burgh for a chance discount.
Tell 'em the loxmyth sent you. (Safe locks are locks too : )

I think 75.3k or 75.6k USD is the price after the price hike. When I was shopping late 2019, was told everything from no price break even after in the case for 6 months, to 7.5-10%. I do believe they have become even more scarce supply wise despite economic slow downs.

My personal guess is that there as less made now in 2019 and shipped to AD's then before to properly establish it as the pinnacle of the Daytona model as opposed to most expensive and easily available. Not an AD said thing, just judging on deliveries plus interviews from the Rolex CEO about branding.

That would depend on which one you're asking about. The dial with the baguette diamond or white gold Chromalight markers?

I was offered one at $75k by AD. Beautiful piece, but not my cup of tea and doesn’t retain value like other Rolex.

The non baguette was selling for 50K used for a long time. It may have crept up some but its best to buy used if you can, if the ADs want full retail.

An AD last year was speaking to a SA who was on the phone with a person asking for a Platinum Daytona mentioned the price of about $98k CAD + tax and no discounts (if I remember correctly), and there were already 2 people on the waiting list for it.

A good ‘relationship builder’ buying that new At full retail !!!

I’d guess at least in the UK it’s a waiting list piece? As I’ve not seen one in any window for years

I’ve seen an older one for £55k in an AD. Absolutely gorgeous.

Is the price not effected by the metal price at the time of ordering?

I think in the first few years, almost all the stores got a few, even in smaller cities with a very hard to sell list price. I think since then when I was looking for one, smaller town AD's didn't just get them in shipments and the total number sent to AD's started to dwindle, and then in places like Macau, they would send more of the baguette ones, further limiting the total supply of the regular original one so to say.

Lastly, I think as overall sports supply dried up and became 'allocation based', well, even if the watch was a slow mover, you had nothing else to sell, so might as well hold out for max price as the only way left to make more money. No point in counting inventory turns if it can't get replenished right?

Good luck in your search, it's a really special watch.

Up here in Toronto

The used ones sell for the retail price of a new one (pre price increase). They are rare and when they come up they go fast. There are no discounts on them anymore and I believe current pricing is about $97-98k CAD plus 13% tax here in Ontario. Might do you well to see if you can get one here with the automatic 35% discount on everything with the currency conversion. That said I bought mine at MSRP before the price hike and it took me about 6 months to find. I too wanted the no diamonds but the “plain” Platona is not seemingly available anywhere I looked. Only baguette dial. So that’s what I ended up with.

I don’t buy to invest. I buy to wear. It’s my new daily. That said so far it’s holding its value well and if the rumours of its discontinuation are true then the value should increase... its a nice bonus but not why I own one. Good luck with your search.

Interesting. I guess it would be nice if it’s true! I used to see both at ADs and bought mine used almost 3 1/2 years ago. Have been daily-ing it ever since. I don’t imagine I’ll ever sell it, so don’t worry about it looking like it’s seen the outside of a bank vault. 😳

I guess it would be cool if they disco’d it, but I imagine Rolex “enjoys” selling them, so I kinda doubt they’d do that without a replacement.
