Box for a 16750

I looked in the search section but could not find pictures of a period correct box for a 16750 GMT Master.

Could someone comment or have a pic, thanks.

If your watch is a European issue then this is the right box, otherwise it's a Bufkor box that you'll need.

It’s a Bufkor box. The grain on the leather will either be a rougher grain (nickname elephant skin), or smoother type leather depending on the year of the watch. I believe the pattern changed in around 84.

Bufkor built the boxes for the US market watches.

If indeed your watch is a US model, you'll need the coarse grain Bufkor.

There are three variations of the Bufkor boxes. The box can vary based on when the watch was originally sold. The lime green 1st version from the late 1970s with the applied plastic coronet found on the top of the inner box. This was used until around 1980.

The 2nd Bufkor box variation has a dark green outer box lid along with a dark green inner box. The outer box lid and the top of the inner box had a large cowhide or elephant hide grain pattern. This box was used from around 1980 to 1983/84.

The 3rd Bufkor box variation has a much smoother cow grain pattern and is the same dark green color as the 2nd generation box. It was used from around 1983/1984 until around 1989.

The early 1980s version of this box used a slotted card for the watch placement in the box. The box depicted in the photo is the later version of this box which used the pillow and pillow wrap.

Sometimes they show up in the parts and accessories section here, but more often than not eBay is likely your best bet.

Just a tip as well would recommend searching for vintage Rolex box rather than Bufkor. With some of the crazy vintage prices the more specific you are at times the more certain dealers even on eBay want to charge. You can often find the same box with less specific nomenclature for $100-$150 less.

There is site that specializes in the accessories as well, but I don’t remember the site name. The few times I’ve been in there it was a bit limited anyways.
