That Daytona is easily my favorite Rolex, and don’t care for the jubilee bracelet on anything. Get the white Daytona and a late model Pepsi- that’s in my long term plan...

Get the GMT. Daytona is overhyped.
Because as with most posts, people just skim read.

It would depend on whether I wanted a Chronograph or a GMT watch

Obviously, get the one YOU prefer.

Have both, easy choice for me... Daytona.

Does function matter, or is this just a piece of man-jewelry for you? One’s a chronograph, one’s a GMT. Both tell time, if that matters.

I would personally pick the Daytona if its only one.

But purchase the one you would like and wear the most.

I have zero use for a chronograph, but a GMT on the other hand is quite beneficial when traveling in different time zones.

I tried a new Daytona on that was spoken for by another customer and felt it wore small-though a very good looking timepiece.

I have the BLRO and love it.

The white-dial Daytona, Ref 116500LN, is the manifestation of Rolex's hype in one watch. It is ridiculously incomplete and overrated, and does not compare very well with Rolex's previous 5-digit Daytonas. The white dial doesn't pop as much as you'd think it does in person, but rather looks fairly bare and incomplete; as it's not a "true panda" (the inner subdials are not filled in) it looks bland from a distance.

I'm sure the movement is fantastic, and the thin case is quite comfortable- but even among Daytonas, you can do better.

Having had the choice of either, I chose the GMT. I've found the bezel to be a substantial improvement over the previous 5-digit models, and the overall appearance to be a little more flexible with regards to how formal and informal you can dress with it.

I’m a huge GMT-Fan (mainly 1675 :-)) The 126710 BLRO to me personally is the unsexiest GMT ever produced. So I would go 100% with the 116500LN white

Not that I am suggesting you do this but if you take the Daytona you could flip it and buy a GMT Pepsi off the grey market and pocket 1000s of dollars.

Personally, I like the GMT a bit more but I think the modern Daytona is stunning. If you are conflicted, definitely go Daytona. Daytona is harder to get and worth way more on the secondary market. Worse comes to worse you will sell it for a hefty profit and get something else.

Is this a serious question. Daytona easily. It is far harder to get, and will always keep its value. It is the most iconic Rolex piece there is.

But I am sure this hypothetical is a moot question. Anyone that has the relationship / baller status with an AD to get a Daytona at MSRP is likely to already have the GMT, the Hulk, and many other stuff already.

For an average guy without seven figure net worth, only way to acquire Daytona is to go grey and pay a hefty premium, or make friends with that baller with that relationship to the Rolex AD. There is no other way.

FOMO, scarcity, and value retention are poor reasons to buy a watch, or anything else. It's simple, do you like it for what it is, not how many there are or what it may be worth X years from now.

This. Unfortunately the se are the exact reasons people buy a watch. No one uses the chronograph. GMT by a mile!

To me daytona no questions asked. It's in a league of its own when it comes to Rolex. Maybe that's just my bias of owning one talking - but the watch seems to be getting better and better each and every time I put it on.

daytona wears smaller than GMT. and if you want a date, GMT would be the way to go. Two total different watches. if given the option i would get the daytona first.

I disagree with this statement. I do not have a seven figure net worth; I am an average guy. I have gotten both a Daytona and GMT from two separate ADs. Each watch was the only purchase I made from each AD. I visited a lot of ADs most of whom politely told me the lists were closed. The key is to just move on from the ones who cannot help.

It’s a seller’s market. While it is nice to think that just because you have 10k in your pocket that you should be able to walk into an AD and get a GMT on demand. However, as is evidenced by so many posts here that is not reality. Find a new AD.

It’s like asking me which one of my kids I like more!!! I love both watches but if someone twists my arm to pick ONLY one , I would go with the BLRO!! It’s the most versatile and comfortable and functional between the two

Daytona. If it were the black dial Daytona would be hard to decide but the panda wins always.
