I think we need a SS YM with the ceramic bezel from the 126655. This should make everyone happy!

Ceramic bezels are based on the same logic as sapphire crystals, and watch buyers as a whole seem to strongly prefer sapphire crystals. I don't see many people here complaining that the sub is a tool watch and should have a plastic crystal that won't shatter.

And maybe it should. A dive watch with a plastic or aluminum bezel and a plastic crystal would undoubtedly be sturdier. But at some point you need to accept that your $10k Rolex with worse accuracy specs than a $20 Casio might not be about practicality and usefulness.
True.

The ceramic is a thin washer. A thin washer with yet thinner ground out markers. I bet a sapphire crystal can take a few extra smacks. Just saying.

Wholeheartedly disagree with the ceramic is inferior posts. It’s absolutely, 100 per cent superior for me. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: you realistically come off a bike or take a fall that destroys the bezel you’re in a whole world of trouble in the ER (or A and E) in the uk with a probably visit to the orthopaedic surgeon. I love the ceramic look but appreciate each to their own.

However regarding AR coating I agree it can really affect the legibility. Was I the garden earlier with a freshly washed sub and with the bezel and crystal gleaming could only see the trees behind me from some angles.

Just to weigh in, ceramics take a fair beating and remain unmarred. Not so with aluminum, gold, platinum, or stainless. I like all and frankly none of my experience is with damage to the bezel except for an aftermarket one I had on a Sub for a bit. It received a scratch while lane sharing in a pool as it knocked on the lane divider.
