Positively shameful

From F1-live.com:

Quote:
(Alan) Jones ... criticised the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) for overlooking the 50th anniversary of the first Formula One championship won by an Australian driver.

Sir Jack Brabham, now 82, won his first of three titles in 1959. He and Jones are the only Australian world champions.

"He is an icon and a national treasure, and to overlook him in that fashion is pathetic," Jones said.

Brabham has turned down his invitation to attend this weekend's event, claiming it was only made after a PR company working with his son David approached the AGPC.

"The fact is, they wouldn't have issued an invitation if they hadn't been prodded and they certainly wouldn't have done anything for the 50th anniversary," Brabham's wife Margaret said.

To Jones' criticisms, AGPC chairman Ron Walker replied: "I am not going to respond to Alan Jones' gripes about the Grand Prix."
This is supposed to be a sport, and it's a crying shame that some cheap casino hustler like Walker has prostituted it for a seat costing a lousy couple of hundred bucks. Petrolhead that I am, I'm wishing more and more that my home town will dump the GP and flush it down like the turd that it has been turned into.

Wait till I get started on idiotic Mr Nazi Hanky Spanky and that evil little Andy Warhol wannabe (geez, I hope Slavica drags him through crushed glass before she takes him to the cleaners)!

Not sure if there any politics behind this, surely not its F1 but it seems shameful that a great driver like Brabham cannot be remembered by the race organisors or F1 in general. James have a word with your mate Mosely!!!

I'm amazed how F1 could have disrespected a legend like Brabham

The way Rupert tells it, if you've got your armband and your feather duster, you'll get paid.

Try asking that gnome Bernie if it's funny, especially when Slavica's ripping it out of his death grip.

Anyway, enough! Four shots of the Balvenie and some beer have done me in. To sleep, perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub. I'll leave it to FrenchMaid76 to play around with the rub bit.

i've never seen a crazier hijacked thread than this one, although it looked to be quite tame at the gate.

I'm thinking of going tomorrow, but they only allow up to 300mm lens and no monopod...
