Playing With The New Lightbox - Rolex Collection

I've got a lot to learn about photography (obviously). Got a lightbox today so that I can start taking some pictures of my watches. Here's a start - my four Rolex.

Did your light box come with a front screen with a slit to insert the camera lens? If not you’ll want one to help block the glare from lights.

I used a box for a few years when listing watches on a regular basis. Good luck on your trek to photo excellence.

The light box is a cheap $20 one from Amazon.... there's a top opening to take shots looking straight down, but, unfortunately, nothing to diffuse the bright LED lights. I'm going to have to figure that out.

If it is structurally strong enough, turn it on it’s side with the opening facing forward.

Then use strong light from top and several inches forward of the watch. Position two stronger side lights at 45° angles to the watch. All lights need to be close to the opaque material comprising the light box. None aimed directly on the watch.

Your camera angle needs to be dead on straight so the cyclops is centered on the date.

You shouldn’t get any glares. And stop down the lens to increase depth of field.
