Sell BLRO for a 15450?
I’ve been offered by a boutique to put a deposit down for a 15450 blue dial as I’ve been hounding them since January. As I understand it, once you put a deposit down you’ll be allocated a watch within the next few months. If I were to go ahead with the 15450 I’d have to sell one of my watches, which in my case would be the 126710 BLRO. Do you guys think it’s worth getting selling my BLRO for the AP? Unfortunately I can’t keep both at the moment.

Let's start with how big your wrist is. Why don't you put some photo of your Pepsi?

So the wrist is rather weak - AP should match. And have you already measured everything 15450 or do you want to buy in the dark?

I’ve tried on a 37mm for reference when I visited the boutique in January and I liked how it fit.

Pepsi is a desirable and very versatile watch. However, AP 15450 is a step forward. Given your wrist size, I'd go to the AP on my way to the top. The only minus is 5 ATM water resistance. Although my colleague with his 41mm RO normally bathed in the pool. It also doesn't have an adjustable clasp in the bracelet.

Eh....i feel very Luke warm about that move. Unless you went secondary market for BLRO and now about to go retail on the AP.
Looks wise, I’d rather move something like a generic sub if that’s an option. Also, I would note while I love the looks of the AP, I much rather prefer the care free nature of the Rolex wrist experience in the long haul. |

I’ve never liked the red blue combo of blro, really prefer both blnr and chnr. I would say especially since you also have a blnr sell the blro to get the AP. It’s much more unique than a Rolex.

I say do it. The 15450 is definitely a step up. And, if you really love the BLRO colorway, replace it with the Tudor GMT.

I have both and the Pepsi gets a LOT more wear. If I had to pick 1 to keep, it would be the Pepsi hands down.

Since you've mentioned your collection thus far I'd move forward with th AP as it will add much to the versitality of what you have.

Do it! The 15450 is beautiful.
You’ve got the BLNR so the BLRO is a bit redundant ie another GMT albeit on jubilee. Good premium if you’re able to negotiate a good deal with the buyer. I wouldn’t hesitate.

15450, no brainer as 15500/15400 will be way too big for you. I say go for it. Even better with blue dial and if you like blue. Good luck and keep us posted!

Less stressful/wrist awareness factoring wearing a Rolex than AP. Not saying AP is delicate or anything. Rolex feels more robust. Wrist awareness as in trying to not put scratches on the watch.

I have both as well—probably my two favorite watches.
Tough to say which I prefer honestly. The pepsi probably gets more wear overall as it’s more robust and feels a little more versatile and I occasionally throw it on a rubber strap; but the AP seems more special and wears a bit better on my (small) wrist. The AP was also an engagement/wedding gift from my wife so I’m a little biased as it’s got more sentimental value. You can’t go wrong honestly. If you’re really torn maybe it depends on what else (if anything) it’d be sharing wrist time with? The AP will almost certainly require more frequent / more expensive / longer duration service, if that’s a concern... |

I have both. Two very different watches, but the 15450 wins for me. But, only if you are not obsessive about scratches (I prefer to call it patina).
I don’t understand how anyone can get any pleasure from a watch that they worry about wearing. If you like things to look pristine, stick with the BLRO. If you are cool with a worn watch looking worn, get the 15450. And in terms of robustness...I have five AP’s (three royal oaks and two offshores) and never had a problem. The only thing I wear Rolex for that I wouldn’t wear AP for is golf. And that’s not because I think the AP is more likely to break, it’s just because I can get my Rolex repaired down the road, whereas AP needs a trip to the City which would be a pain! The great thing about the Royal Oak, whether it's the 15450, 15202, or 15500 is that you only need one and you are finished with AP. It's not like Rolex or PP where you will feel the need to collect across the spectrum of their references.
Get the blue dial 15450 and your AP itch can be scratched forever. Plus, it's a superb watch, actually the best RO AP currently produces regardless of the dial color. |

Ceramic bezel is your friend!!!! Plus the nature of how AP polishes surfaces to reflect light makes the dings more notable because the mirror finish gets distorted by the dings so it shines differently. Literally.

As much as I love the Royal Oak, I have to agree with this one. I also own both, and they are very different watches. The RO is a lot more fragile, so the Pepsi is more of an every day watch for me. I wear the RO more for special occasions. I guess it also depends on what else you have in your collection and how you use your watches. Keep in mind that the 15450 is a lot more expensive to own, both considering the service cost and also I think in terms of value retention. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
