Daytona Advise

Guys,

I am thinking of purchasing a new yellow gold Daytona this week, but I quiet fancy having a leather banded watch.
My question is if I buy a all gold Daytona can I also purchase the original leather band and clasp and swap around when the need arises? Does this require a lot of work i.e can I do it myself or do I need to take back to AD?

You can buy it, it's whether or not the end links are the same, I'd double check the two models against each other at the AD before you drop the coin :)

You should be able to get a leather strap to fit, a little depends on whether the strap for the Daytona is the same width as the lugs. You won't be able to get the same look as the Daytona on strap (there will be a gap between the case and the end of the strap), but it should be perfectly functional. If you can't get a official Rolex strap, you could probably get a high quality leather strap and gold deployment clasp fairly easily, and for a lower price too.

Sorry for sounding stupid! I just assumed that I popped the metal bracelet off and placed the leather one on, please explain the lugs to me and the gap you are talking about? Is the case (head) on the metal and leather strap not the same????? Thanks.

Nothing to do with the lug size, which will be the same. It is to do with the fixings....See pics below:

I've always thought the Arabic numerals were great on the Daytona, better than the normal hour markers. Are the Arabic numerals and upside down bezel markings only on gold Daytonas?

The metal piece on the Leather Strapped Daytonas is part of the watch case and the bezel needs to be removed in order to but on a bracelet..

However, with the bracelet model, you can take the bracelet off and put on any leather strap you want. You just cannot use the metal end-piece since the Bracelet Daytona does not have the machined groove for it to fit in..
