Rolex Zenith Daytona sells for 3,200,000 USD

Well, not just any Zenith Daytona:

"Manufactured by Rolex in 1999, this is the only known platinum Daytona with lapis lazuli hardstone dial. It is also important to note that this watch has the same reference number 16516 and A serial number, which is consistent with the only other known platinum Daytona sold by Sotheby's in 2018 for USD 871,000.

There are many interesting attributes about this watch that make it highly unusual. First and foremost, the dial is made of lapis lazuli hardstone and the case is crafted from platinum, the world's most noble metal. The watch is inscribed on the case back and dated XII 1998. Sotheby's is absolutely thrilled to present this exceptionally rare and highly important Rolex Daytona with Zenith movement for the first time to the market."

Now this is a RARE Daytona. There is only a tiny tiny tiny number of these models. (this may be the only one)

Ppl these days thinking that a Hulk/ BLNR/ SD43 or Blue SKyD will reach these levels and paying crazy prices for them all when there are 1000s upon 1000s of them made - you just have to laugh at them all. LOL

Sorry anyone paying that sort of money must be sixpence short of a shilling even if it was one of a kind for some sort of special dial.

What bracelet / strap did it come with originally? Can’t say I care for the teal color ...

Completely nuts. Not one of my favorite Daytonas - but definitely unique!

I would not pay 100 bucks for that Daytona. Looks like those pastel monstrosities they released some time ago.

I guess it's just me, but something is weird about that watch. The bezel markings on Daytonas from 1999 weren't like that. This one has modern bezel markings. Maybe the bezel was replaced?

x2 on that, but if the individual has worked, saved, and taken care of all his or her obligations, you have to give he or she credit.

For a hyper-rich collector of rare Daytonas, it is probably priceless. To me, in the real world I agree with you

Daytona's are absolutely unstoppable.

This piece doesn't even have an original bezel and it went for fantastic money.

The market is truly remarkable considering what has been going on.
