Thanks for sharing. BTW, interesting that nobody has selected a JLC as their wild card yet.

Believe me I nearly did. The new master calendar chronograph in steel from this year is an absolute belter

As you had Patek and ALS in there as key choices and typically their best pieces are on leather, I didn’t want to pick another leather choice

Totally logical. I’ll mix up the brand requirements next time. ;)

Fun post, type of thing I think about too...

1. Rolex DD40 (Champagne, baguette diamond dial)
2. Omega Speedmaster
3. Patek Nautilus (5711 Blue dial)
4. Lange 1 time zone (Pink gold with dial in argenté)
5. AP royal oak chrono 41mm (Blue/grey rhodium dial)

My favorite models (not including above brands)
1. Hublot - Spirit of Big Bang
2. IWC - Portuguese Chrono
3. Tudor - BB Heritage 41mm
4. Grand Seiko - Spring Drive
5. Blancpain - 50 Fathoms

My 5 favorite Rolex
1. DD40 (Champagne, baguette diamond dial)
2. Cellini Moonphase
3. JC DSSD
4. SubC
5. Milgauss z-blue

Ah that was fun, and quite tricky.

3. Watch #3 must be a Patek. ~ Salmon Dial Patek 5004
4. Watch #4 must be a Lange. ~ Lange 1 in Steel
5. Watch #5 is a WILD CARD ~ Tudor Black Bay 58 Navy Blue (because I’d need a watch that I could actually wear out of the house! )

1 my olive OP 34mm.
2 my vintage Omega 30T2 from the mid 1940's.
3 18k YG Patek Philippe Calatrava ref.96, preferably a later model with shock absorber, I don't fancy making balance staffs on a lathe again...

4 Lange 1815 'honey gold' limited edition.
5 Grand Seiko sbgw231, manual wind.

1. 116500LN (White)
2. I'm not overly fond of Omega but perhaps the Railmaster on a strap
3. 5726 (Grey Dial)
4. I find the Saxonia Thin to be beautiful in its simplicity
5. JLC Reverso

1 5 digit pepsi GMT.
2 moonwatch.
3 6300g grand complications.
4 zietwork striking time.
5 Tudor bb58 blue.
Pretty low key for the wild card but made up for in cost elsewhere, would.make a great beater for the collection.

I see the ALS choice as being a challenge for many of us. It's up there, but not at the top for all of us. Maybe allow #4 & #5 to be open. I have my own list if ALS is off.

1. 116515 Daytona on OF
2. Speedy Pro Sapphire Sandwich
3. Aquanaut 5168G
4. VC Traditionnelle Small Seconds with Guilloché dial
5. GS Ti Diver spring drive

1. Rolex Submariner 114060
2. Omega Speedmaster Pro Sapphire Sandwich
3. Patek Nautilus 5711 (Blue dial)
4. Lange 1815 White Gold (might as well get a simple dress watch to balance things out)
5. Breitling Navitimer B01 (sort of redundant with the Speedmaster, but both are top 5 watches for me)

There’s something about the Breitling Navitimer that speaks to me too. It’s the way the crystal spans the entire diameter of the dial/case — giving it huge presence and showcasing the detail of the dial.

Navitimer B01 is a classic. I put it in the same category as the Submariner and Speedmaster. My 3 all-time favorites...

I was going to buy one a couple weeks ago but went with the Speedmaster instead. No regrets, but eventually I'll have both.

Did not see the $20,000 limit for no. 5, in that case I change my choice to: Urban Jürgensen Alfred (42mm)

I'd rather only have 4 watches then. Not much >$20k that I want that isn't Rolex. Too high of service costs imo to justify adding. Omega certainly wouldn't be in my personal 5, so I would drop that as well

I'll play

1. Watch #1 must be a Rolex.
2. Watch #2 must be an Omega.
3. Watch #3 must be a Patek.
4. Watch #4 must be a Lange.
5. Watch #5 is a WILD CARD.

1. Rolex BLNR
2. Moonwatch
3. 3940
4. Lange 1 moon phase RG
5. Overseas 4500

Bit of everything there, admittedly haven't put too much thought into it though
