Seeking advice on buying a DJ 36 from an AD

Hi all: What would it be like, in the US, to buy a DJ 36 from an AD? I'd want black dial, Oystersteel, Oyster bracelet, plain domed bezel.
It's not nearly impossible, is it, like with a SS Sub?
I know two different ADs--I've purchased from them before. Nothing real expensive, so I'm not an A-list client or anything, but I have a good relationship with them.
Should I reach out to them now? Should I wait until September, when Rolex announces new models?
Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks and be well.

TT or SS DJ36? I’d reach out and say you’re interested but curious to see if any new dial configurations are announced in September. So if there’s room on pricing for anything in stock currently, you can be persuaded to act now.

I don't see any issues with getting a DJ36 from an AD... I haven't inquired about one in a while so may be different now, but never hurts to call your AD and ask. If you like a specific configuration I would say go for it.

thanks, Ether!

That's helpful advice. Also, I edited my original post to state that I want SS.

Got it. Black and blue dials are tough to catch in stock so they probably won’t have what you’re looking for on hand. So for sure reach out and say you’d take the next one that comes in if they can’t order one for you.

Thanks! I have a dumb question now: Is it normal to reach out to two separate ADs at the same time? Or is that smarmy or something?

Not at all! Now is when you realize which AD takes you more seriously as a buyer by producing the watch more quickly and that AD can continue getting your future business!

When you use the term "oystersteel" are you referring to standard Rolex SS used in all their watches? I assume you are but perhaps something else was intended.

I’d be surprised if you have problems getting a SS DJ from an AD. And yes, Inquire at all nearby ADs!

Great watch! I don’t think you’ll have any trouble finding one you like. Just pop into the AD and be sure to post your incoming thread with pictures!

My AD here in Salt Lake has one available. PM me if interested and I can hook you up with my SA. He has been nothing short of perfect.

Hi--yes, sorry for the confusion, I meant regular Rolex SS.

thanks, Chipotle!

That's a kind offer! I would want to work the ADs I know, however. I bought my OP 36 from one of them, and a Tank Solo for my wife from the other AD. I kind of feel like these ADs are part of my watch fam! Thank you, though!

Should be able to place a deposit on a DJ36 in the configuration you like and your AD can order it for you. Could take months, but you’ll get it.

I got a blue dial a month ago and it was sitting in the case. Had also ordered through another AD with no deposit and that one arrived in 4 weeks. Keep an eye out and shop around and you’re sure to stumble on one. Good luck!!
