Anyone into model railroading?

I grew up with a Lionel model railroad as a child. O gauge. I’ve been out of the hobby now for 25 years and thinking I may want to build a new layout. I’m considering HO gauge. Any advice?

I’ve always had O gauge...I’ve got quite a bit of space. HO is more economical. Lionel post war Items are my favorite and they’ve come down in value.

It’s sad, there’s a train dealer at the local flea market. Feel awful for the guy. He can’t make it in this day and age. I went to the Lionel factory auction after they shut down their Mi HQ and we bought pallets of trains as a kid for pennies on the dollar. I still have all my stuff, my nephew has no interest in anything other than his plastic Thomas the tank stuff. Makes me sad knowing my kid probably will never want to play with the things. Was a huge hobby/passion of mine growing up.

The Japanese brass HO stuff is absolutely amazing. Superb details, if I got back into it, that’s what I’d be buying.
