To fix a ding you"ll have to remove metal around the ding. The more you ding the more you polish the more metal you remove.

Not necessarily. Can be laser welded.

Yup the only way is polish it down which removes metal, or the adding metal to fill the hole which is a whole different can of worms.

Some of the different polishing cloths and pastes will get it down without too much work but you are still taking away metal.

If you try to fix every ding or scratch, you end up with a patchwork case and are not really doing your watch a good deed.

But please do tell an educate me and provide any proof where this is something that I should even possibly consider for my Rolex especially for such a small ding as the one the OP has.

It's certainly possible to weld small dings like this, have done it myself plenty of times. Actually much easier to do something like this than a large dent.

I have almost the exact same ding in the same place on my sub. Personally I'm just waiting until service time to have it taken care of.

How close are you to needing a full service? If close, I’d send it to Rolliworks in Ca. They’ll take care of that.

If not close to service, leave it be.

I had a bigger accident with my one week old watch. I have dings on older watches that I won’t repair but I really wanted to fix this one because it was brand new. Rolliworks did an amazing job.

OP are you trying to sell or trade the watch? If not, I would leave it alone. That ding is too small to fret over.

If you must have it repaired, Rolliworks seems to be the best place to send it. Those guys do magic when restoring cases.
