I just bought a watch on eBay in this program. It took 2 extra days. The watch went from Brooklyn to Ohio then back to me in NY. They give you a letter of authenticity along with the piece.

Simple, stay away from e-bay as a seller.

eBay is listening! In the end this actually worked out and I now support this! The authenticator is TOP TOP TOP notch and eBay revised their hasty first press release, leaving out the rediculous "ultrasonic bath" part (duh) and the confiscation part (double duh) and with some much-needed wording as to vintage originality, acknowledging that on a vintage watch a spring bar, staff or crystal or other parts no longer manufactured by a company does not make it inauthentic. KUDOS to eBay. https://pages.ebay.com/authenticity-...ee-seller/#faq. thoughts?? (please read the FAQ and TERMS before commenting.

IT has been pointed out to me that if you do a deep dive, eBay still has the rediculous "confiscation policy". Something tells me that this is still "ok' since the authenticator is awesome. Perhaps this is something they MUST say for legal reasons and keep the serial scammers away?

If you know anything about antique violins, about 90% of them from the 1800's and early 1900's have a paper on the inside that says "Antonio Stradivari". They are not a Stradivarius, but they are collectible. Well some buyer wanted to return the violin for whatever reason, said it wasn't a real Stradivarius, so eBay told the buyer that he needed to DESTROY the violin since it wasn't an original Stradivarius, and provide video evidence of doing it. That is my vision of eBay's "confiscation policy". |
