Rolex 2020 exhibition in Sydney

J Farren Price in Sydney have the new 2020 Rolex releases available for viewing until 27 September. They are for display only and have a dummy movement in them. You need to book in a time slot to view them due to the pandemic.

They have been flat out with people looking at the new releases since the exhibition started on 22 September. I believe the Kennedys’ Rolex boutique on Martin Place held the exhibition before J Farren Price.

I got to handle the new OP36, 124060 and 126619LB. Having owned the 116610LV, I can say that the new Subs don’t feel larger at all and are in fact better proportioned. I can’t say I miss the maxi or super case at all!

The turquoise blue on the OP is beautiful. Nice matte baby blue.

I put my name down on the wait list for the Subs. I could be waiting a while for the call...

Agreed. I was on the fence as to whether or not the 126619LB was an improvement on the 116619LB. Having seen it in the flesh, it's 126619LB all the way!

I feel this is just harsh in Australia, as it’s practically impossible to get anything

Of course not. It's 6.75 inches. 41mm might be on the upper limit of what I can wear.

Nice pics
Shame they couldn't have sent a few real ones, for sale - it's not like they are short of movements.

Nice pics and thanks for sharing, I had an invite from the hour glass a couple of weeks ago and for the first time I couldn’t be bothered to attend, maybe I’m used to staying at home

Thanks mate!
Mine is 6.4" and I think I'm not worthy of the 41mm.

Putting you name down during this exhibition period gives you the best chance of getting the call without prior purchase history.

Size it's totally personal preference. I have 6.5" wrist.

I went to the trunk show at Rolex Boutique for the new releases on Sept. 16. I tried them on my wrist and love it very much. I could not tell that they are any bigger than the previous model.

I went home that day with 2 new Sub. (126610LN and 126610LV).

I don’t really care, I’ll put my name down on a model I like and depending on how demand pans out over the year(s), could be sooner than expected :)

Yeah everybody is glossing over the fact that these watches have been announced, not available, ANNOUNCED for less than 4 weeks at this point. Nobody knows anything about availability or true demand until we settle in for a few months. There’s lots of ADs who haven’t even received their first shipment of 2020 models.

Society’s mindset of ‘got to have it right now’ is getting worse every year, jeez.

They didn’t have a 126610LV as part of the exhibition unfortunately. Would’ve been good to see what it looked like on the wrist too.

In terms of preference of what I would want to buy, I would put the 126619LB first then the 124060 and then the 126610LV.

Blue bezel WG is the king and the classic original Submariner comes in as a close second.

In terms of overall proportions - the BB58 Navy Blue trumps the new Submariners. Mirrors the 5 digit Sub’s size and has the nice vintage touches - chamfered lugs, aluminium bezel insert and domed crystal. It’s a darker and more subtle blue than the Smurf. Such great bang for your buck and no waiting list (or a relatively short one compared to Rolex). What’s not to like?

I’m the same. I’m happy to bide my time, knowing it could take years (!!). I have plenty of other toys to play with in the meantime until the call comes in.

Agree on the 126619LB.

Is the blue actually darker than smurf? You got more pics?

Thanks

Wow really thought I was going to love the WG blue sub. Have to say I would just go full blue. The Blue dial really makes the watch.
