Thanks for the kind words everyone! I don’t think the Exp II gets the credit it deserves. A lot of people say 42mm is too big, but there is so much love for the sea dwellers (43/44) and now the new Subs (41mm). It is a robust GMT that you shouldn’t be afraid to get dirty. It has just enough low key Rolex quirkiness with the orange hand to be different.

I gave the SA my short list of a Polar Exp II and a GMT BLRO. I would occasionally stop in the store and chat with my SA about watches in general. He would give me insight about their stores policy on prioritizing in demand professional models. Basically sounded like I wasn’t getting anything any time soon. Then a couple of weeks ago, while I was out of town, I received a message from my SA asking if I was still wanted an Explorer II. I had my mind set to wait to see what happens next year with a 50th anniversary, but not knowing what, if any, changes Rolex may make I chose to go with the current model. I was finally able to pick this guy up today.

I have sea (SubC) and land (Exp II) covered. Just need to finish the trio with a BLRO for air.

Congrats!

Congrats on your Polar. I've had mine since June '18 the day after my AD recieved it and showed it to me, glad now I went back before it went on display. Great piece and no use waiting on a new one that would be a fight to get anyway if it comes out in '21. The 3187 movement is a pinnacle of the tried and true 31XX series and besides a longer power reserve I'm not a big fan of the 32XX series and the way the hands set in the opposite direction like on my DJ41, winds smoother with a quieter rotor as well. Excellent move on your part to get it now. Enjoy that Beauty!!...

Congrats on your Polar!! Its been underrated for a long time but not so much since the SS shortage started in late '17. Look on C/24, Now prices are pretty much on track with a new one's msrp. I bought mine new in 6-'18 and got a 7.5% discount which was the last my AD had seen for a long time. Now greys are asking 10k+ for used 6 dgt. Not so underrated anymore. Enjoy that Beauty!!...
