The disadvantage of the Subs Glidelock...
Now this obviously depends on the size of your wrist, but in my case, at 6.75" I have only one spare link on my Bluesy, the reason for that is that in order to center the clasp properly on my wrist, I have a "sacrificial" link that's basically right on top of the Glidelock spaces. In other words, the Glidelock is set pretty far in (to make the bracelet smaller) and as a result one full link is right on top of the grooves of the Glidelock system which causes scratches there. I am wondering how deep these scratches will go over time or if they will just stop getting worse at some time.
How do you have your bracelet adjusted, did you take more links out to avoid this situation? Did you put some protective film over it, or do you just let it be since no one really ever gets to see that particular link since it is hidden inside the clasp?

Usually the link that spans and touches the rear of the clasp gets scratched / rubbed the most. Those lying flat inside the clasp even against the glide lock notches not so much.
I just removed a half link from inside my sub after 6 months in order to better center it and it was perfect.

I have a 6.75” wrist too, and I wear my Sub with the same configuration as you. I actually never even thought about scratches on that link. I can’t see it anyway so I guess I don’t care.

You can balance the clasp by moving the half link in glide lock side to other side. I was so pissed with my sub fit until I came across the thread that inspired this idea and I took it to the watch maker who did the change and since then the fit is perfect

I think it’s designed to be scratched. Then you just polish it out. It’s Steel most of the time ? I wear my watches so accept they will scratch. If more for out and about posing then maybe wear diff watch when desk diving! I wear leather straps so not to annoy with the clatter on the desk and discomfort.

It's the same with any band.
Crocodile band with a buckle will bend and wear at the pinhole you adjust it, metal will scratch, pins will stretch, you will get fat, your wife old, it's part of the impermanence of our lives. It's up to you to focus on the inevitable, or enjoy the moment. |

I wouldn’t worry about it too much if it is a SS bracelet a half or full link only costs about £55, just get your AD to get you one and keep it for the future if you ever need it.

I consider that buried link just an integral part of the glidelock clasp.
I went from 5 links by 5 links to 4.5 links by 6 links (12 o'clock) and put half the 6th link into the glidelock. The clasp is now more centered and my watch body doesn't hange down as far when my arm is horizontal. |

Ladies and Gentlemen, you all make excellent points. No sense crying over 3 marks on a link that I will never see. I could polish and cover it, but why? The mechanism is great and the adjustability is wonderful!
I actually asked the AD to use as many links as possible (only have one spare left in the box) because I enjoyed the extra weight of the watch (too poor for a full gold one), so I will not let those scratches bother me. Thanks for all the replies!
