Rob/powerfunk,

I’m trying to send you a PM, but it says your TRF mailbox is full.
If you can delete a few, PM me to lmk, and I’ll re-send it.

I assume "Minck's" is a retailer but I can't find any info about them:

It's not legible in this shot but Herbert Wolf was a jeweler that co-branded some Rolex and Unicorn dials.

This dial is clearly redone so I'm not sure if the stamp is original but here's a Türler (Switzerland) dial:

It looks like the majority of retailer signed Rolexes were from the 1920s and 30s. Did this practice fade out postwar hence the rarity of signed Day Dates and things like that?

Yes, exactly. The 1920's-1940's was the heyday of the "double-stamped" dial, although there were some after that. Until the 1920's it was standard for dials to be branded by the jeweler if they were branded at all. We now take it for granted that we see the watchmaking company's logo and name on the dial, but Rolex's influence was a big part of why that happened when it did.

Supposedly Tiffany stamped their own dials so that's why you see those up into the 1990's.

I've read that the Khanjars and such were also stamped by the import agents at the time instead of being done at the Rolex factory.

Personally I don't buy that. Rolex specifically advertised custom-branded dials as good employee awards. The ads say "YOUR CORPORATE LOGOTYPE CAN BE INSERTED" and I doubt they were just leaving all of that up to import agents. Plus, most Rolex-issued logo dials lack the typical chronometer/precision text at the bottom of the dial, and I doubt there just happens to be a huge number of dials that perfectly paint over that. When I see logo dials with text at the bottom I'm suspicious that the logo is aftermarket, but I do believe a few OEM ones are like that.

Here's a Joyeria Riveria double signed dial. Joyeria Riveria was located in Havana, Cuba and later moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico after Castro took power.

Very interesting Rob. It's very unusual to see a Thai branded Rolex from that (or any) era.

I own a ref 1501 from 1966 (1,4M serial) with Tiffany & Co printed on dial. Ink print and ink color hue are a bit different from the rest of dial wordings. I would like to know if this is truly cobranding. Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts
PS: I already posted this watch in TRF Vintage subforum for information and watch correctness. Seems legit, bracelet is “aftermarket” (i.e a copy one), claimed Hong Kong made by seller
