34mm OP Green

Why is this particular color much more $$ than other 34mm’s?

Maybe because it is a little hard to come by. I never got to see one in person, and now that they are discontinued, probably never will :(

Green seems to always carry a little premium. Also blue.

There's probably some truth to this...it is a very lovely dial and not surprisingly hard to find.

Negative. Not in 34mm. Green is not on the Rolex site anymore. Your only 4 color choices in 34mm as of 10:45am today are black, pink, blue, and silver.

I did love that green color on the OP34 and tried it on a couple of times. The size was also great for me but was never sure how I would feel long term about the bright orange highlights and ultimately found the 3-6-9 OP options to be a more interesting dial.

The new solid green colors look lame in comparison. Would have preferred to see the same sunburst green without the orange. maybe it will come back in a few year.

On a related note, this thread made me look at the site and it seems they have discontinued my 36mm 3-6-9 blue dial model 116000. Now there is a double baton blue 36mm OP model instead:
https://www.rolex.com/watches/oyster...6000-0003.html

Good for those who aren't 3-6-9 fans and wanted 36mm blue, but I find the double baton a bit bland.

EDIT: I think for green what I really want is a 36mm version of this ..

As for you OP: good luck sourcing your desired 34m,!

I literally bought my blue 3-6-9 Explorer dial 36mm OP 116000 two weeks before Rolex announced they were discontinuing the dial!! It was still featured on the Rolex website but curiously, no ADs had it listed on their websites. I even searched on Turneau and other nationwide ADs and not a single AD featured it. So that led me to believe that they all knew something was coming but the Rolex mothership didn't want to tip anyone off so they kept it on their own website.

I had to go pre-owned for mine. Thankfully I got a sweet deal on a like new in box with all tags and papers. I got it for 10% below what the retail cost would have been at an AD if anyone had it. Two weeks after I unboxed it, Rolex discontinued it and now the sellers are asking quite a bit more than what I paid for mine. My timing couldn't have been better.

In my opinion, that was the most interesting of all the dials. I have always loved the Explorer but with so many black dial Rolexes out there, I never bought the Explorer knowing that I would have a sub at some point. The blue dial is so much prettier and I love the way the dial changes color in the sunlight!

I couldn’t agree more, I have ordered my 114200 blue 369 dial mid July and received it during the last week of August. I still consider myself lucky, that’s my favourite dial by far!

Great choice! My wife wants a 34mm now with the blue 3-6-9.

Another reason why I prefer it to the actual 36mm Explorer is the 3-6-9 are actually lumed so you can read them in the dark.

Sunburst! Always changing in different lighting conditions. Going from sparkly to dark.
A really really great dial!

Rolex probably doesn’t release its production numbers but I wonder if the green OP was the least produced….
