Incomings with no purchase history?

Over the last week or two I have been noticing some new threads with members saying they received a call from an AD for a hard to get piece and who have no purchase history at the AD. Now I am not saying this is now the norm or a landslide opinion but just curious what others have observed.

always possible ... out of all the ADs out there in the world. There's always some people getting sought after pieces with zero purchase history with a new SA or some "story"

but it is certainly not the norm.

And that's assuming the people posting are telling the truth ;-) or even real.

I support your sentence, 99.99% is impossible to get a hot model if without previous purchase record in Asia.

It can happen. I got an OP41 and CHNR in back to back weeks with zero previous purchase history from that AD.

It’s absolutely true. I bought a Michael Kors watch at JC Penney with no purchase history there.

Yes, I am proof. The 116500 is the only purchase I made from them.
However, I put 1/2 down when this was first released and received it in Dec 2017.
Waited 7 months, but my AD came through. He unfortunately is no longer a Rolex AD due to cutbacks.

I’ve never experienced these things personally but it’s kind of appalling to read about these situations. The one I dislike the most is where they want you to buy stuff you were not necessarily interested in so they can sell you what you want. WT heck....

My first Rolex, which I bought in August of 2019, was a Bluesy. I called on a Saturday, left a message, they called back, chatted with me for a bit, then called back the following Wednesday. Zero purchase history, didn't even know where the town was where this AD was located. On that particular saturday, I just decided to call every AD on my side of the state and they were the first ones to come through. Since then I bought a DJ41 from them in May 2020, and just last week, they got me the TT Rootbeer which I asked for after getting the DJ41.

So does this mean that the AD’s have worked thru their waitlists for some of these models and now calling new people? I don’t think we will know. Perhaps demand is falling off a little given the world pandemic environment.

i had purchase history with a certain sales associate, not with the AD. 2 decades ago. i guess i was just lucky. things do happen, and we all have to be just happy for the person sharing the story.

I think this is geographically dependent. I find it hard to believe, in major cities like LA, this is the case. I have been in multiple Rolex ADs in LA with limited purchase history and they said the waiting lists is "thousands of people long".

I have only ever bought one watch from my AD, a Y serial 16610. It was in the case, and I checked out a 16710 the same visit before deciding on the Sub. I paid for and walked out with it the same day back in 2003. What happened? When did all this waiting list and planned limited release stuff happen?

I only ever remember my AD telling me that Submariner Date yearly production had always been limited and that they didn't have numerous examples in stock for that reason.
