I listened to most of the video.
OP, for a guy who has bought many watches on the forums and not from AD’s I am surprised you did not see the red flags prior to wiring this scammer the monies. You are not a rookie at this.
Also, once the bank (B of A) credited you the money, I am surprised you kept asking them about it and then asked if you could keep it, almost asking them to take it back or to look further into it and someone at the Bank would take it back. Of course it was from this transaction, you said you had no other disputes going.

Bottom line, you made out great getting 80% of your money back.

Tons of scammers looming around this forum lately. Someone tried to email me a few days ago, saying he was a trusted dealer, trying to sell me a bunch of watches.
It's really a shame. I always thought that the fact that you had to pay to become a seller here made it extra safe. Yes, in the end that BLNR is gonna cost me a lot!

Yes, I was very careless and made out great in the end. I won't be careless again!

Watching this video should be mandatory for all people wanting to buy a watch through TRF.

So much we can all learn from this story.

Why TRF? It can happen anywhere.

True, but education has to start somewhere and it seems this site is a target for scammers given the willingness of people to send large quantities of money via wire transfer to secure a Rolex.

Sometimes that’s only way to go. Especially now that travelling (internationally and for leisure) is not yet possible.

Sending money by bank transfer to person or persons unknown is always going to be risky in these type of situations.

These days I’d sooner pay more for a watch I can touch and feel before I buy from a reputable reseller (usually one I’ve dealt with before),even if an overnight stay is involved.

Wiring money doesn’t kill people, people kill people. Nothing wrong at all with wiring money, which I’ve done on tons and TONS of watches transactions, real estate, etc. It’s about the recipient. No problem wiring money for example to Aamir, Than, DavidSW, HQM, Bobs, etc. some random dude? Not a good idea.

What happened to member 'asabet' is very common around here, and very sickening because it occurs so often.

Wiring money to large brick-and-mortar, well-established sellers is OK.

But other than that, "WIRE" has pretty much earned its place on watch forums as a four-letter word.

I wish I was this successful. I lost 7.5k on a hulk. Even the police told me take it as a expensive and hard lesson :(
