correct bracelet link ratios
I have a SS Sub date M version, I have 5 links inluding the half link on the 6:00 side. I have eight links on the 12:00 side, this includes the diver extension. My question is, has anyone determined a "correct ratio" of links. I know that all wrists are different, but my presumption would be that there is a mythical standard for size and comfort. I currently have the diver pin in the clasp set at one notch in. Any feedback or ideas regarding this dilemma?

You must have 9 links on the '12' side + the FLAT link marked "S".....and 4½ links on the '6' side. You CANNOT take off links from the '6' side - only ADD. That side of the bracelet has a link with only ONE screw so it's easy to add on a link (for guys with large wrists). If you do need to take off 2 links, then do so from the '12' side. Do not touch the first 3 links just after the FLAT "S" link. They are all important, including the one with the NOTCH and the one just after it with the "O" on it. Take off the next 2 above (if required). As to PERFECT fit, well......that would vary from wrist to wrist. I am lucky in that Rolexes fit me straight out of box, bang on the wrist - no adjustments whatsoever. My fit.....

Thanks for the info and photo, does the third notch in the clasp ensure proper storage and deployment of the diver extension? Mine is currently on the second notch from the outside and the O is almost on the edge of the clasp. From what I understand the notch on the clasp is equal to 1/2 link. Would I be better off adding the ninth link and moving the notch in to the third notch? This would make the bracelet 1/2 link longer correct? Thanks |

I wear mine 5 links on the 12 o clock and 6 links at 6 o clock. My wrist is 7 1/4. I need to re adjust the links if it's a stock Sport Rolex on Oyster bracelet.

That's what it's mean to do once you fold the diver extension inside the clasp.....lock onto the bar. Like I said, that picture above is PRECISELY how you should receive a new Sub-date with SEL bracelet from the AD - that is ORIGINAL ROLEX FACTORY setting - anything else is totally INCORRECT!! I've read some HORROR stories of guys here who have bought new Subs and have found missing "O" links and what have you. How that could possibly happen with a brand new watch from an authorised Rolex dealer is way beyond my comprehension!! Best - JJ

I noticed in your photo that the diver link bar/pin is in the third hole in. currently mine is in the second with a link removed. where does the clasp fold end up against the inside of your bracelet? (clasp closed) I am thinking of adding the ninth link and moving my pin in like your setup. I am wondering what the additional length og the bracelet will become including the fold over clasp. Does the location of your pin interfere with the fliplock, it looks as though it is in the same notch? thanks again.... |

Well, that pic above just about says it all. I've deliberately shown the watch in profile so you guys can have a look at the linkage configuration as it should come from Rolex, Geneva.......brand new out of box.
In fact, even the micro-pin setting in that 3rd hole from the end is exactly how it is set at Rolex, Geneva. If it's not that way, then someone at your end has done some unnecessary fiddling/farting around and not bothered to rectify the bracelet back to its ORIGINAL setting (which is like above) - end of story!!
