What Books Are You Reading?

As the new year approaches, what are you reading?

Picked up “The Splendid and the Vile” by Erik Larson (author who also wrote “Devil In the White City”). Fan of Churchill and Larson, so thinking this will be a winner.

I almost bought that very book the other day. Let me know what you think.

I just finished My Dearest Julia: The Wartime Letters of Ulysses S. Grant to His Wife.

Now starting Greek and Roman Mosaics by Umberto Pappalardo, et. al.

1. Legacy (team building activity at work)

2. The Score Will Take Care of Itself (for me personally)

3. Silos, Politics and Turf Wars (recommended by one of my mentors)

I recently bought a small post-war poetry collection written by Mengele that came up at auction. It’s so incredibly odd I couldn’t help myself. It’s like buying a car wreck in a box.

I'm currently reading this, Nautilus 90 degrees North. A very interesting account by the submarine commander. I thought that I'd revisit a few arctic / antarctic 1930 - 1960 "exploration" books.

Like many during my time in Covid, there is a lot of books. As the Elizabeth Holmes trial is coming up, I read Bad Blood by John Carreyrou. As an entrepreneur, her gall was astounding.

I'm reading three books at the moment.
  • a biography of Nikola Tesla written by W. Bernard Carlson;
  • "Dove sono tutti quanti?" by Amedeo Balbi - a book about the search for extraterestrial life written by an astrophysicist;
  • "A Man & his Watch" by Matt Hranek

Looks interesting, I’ll have to check it our. I also like polar exploration books, well, exploration books in general, really.

I'm also reading it right now. I have just begun the courtroom drama. What part are you at? If you are bogged down in the first quarter of the book (as I was), I recommend sticking to it.

It's been a month since I picked it up; last was the attempt to say there was no interest in the girl who through herself at him to save her father. "Sends my regards" I believe was the line. I'll have to give it another crack!!!
