Moving link from 12 to 6

I want to move one link from 12 to 6... is there any secret to doing this??

I've tried unscrewing it but am afraid to exert to much force... or worse marring the screw head with the screwdriver.

Any tips??

Thanks!!!

Make sure you have the right size driver, then simple firm pressure.

I think it is a 1.5mm or 1.25mm screwdriver. You will not strip the screw coming out. I think the factory uses loc tite on their screws. I did this with mine with no problem so it can be done just be nice.

Very important. Make sure you have a good quality driver in the correct size. Usually 1.4mm or 1.5mm will work well. Frequently screwdrivers from those cheap sets of jewelers screwdrivers do not have properly ground tips. Invest in a good driver or set.

You may find it helpful to hold your bracelet in a padded vise. Feel free to put some masking tape or other protector on the edge of the band around the screw head.

I'd like to help out here.....but a couple of questions....

Which watch are we talking about and why would you want to do this?

You must have fewer links on the '6' side as compared with the '12' side; otherwise you will have a lop-sided fit.

Can you tell me how many links you have distributed on each side now?

Thanks - JJ

The screw driver blade is 1.6mm. I assume you want to work on the TT Sub by your name.
The screwdriver from a SeaDweller is perfect for the job.

Expensive, but then cheaper than a ruined link!!

Agreed......this is what you need for any Oyster bracelet - however, too small for the Jubilees.

I have a 1.2 for my DJ Oyster, and it is not the best size. 1.4mm would be perfect.
On my watch, I found out the long way that certain links cannot be swapped into other positions

The bracelet has a particular taper to it, and the threaded pins are link specific, at least close by the clasp.

Pictures, how-to's, and comparison of the particular screw driver sizes over on the Reference Library under the Amateur Watchmakers Corner..

(1.6mm is the correct size)
