Input on a slight 'mod' to a DJ 36
Hi guys;
I absolutely love my DJ, circa 2006. What I don't love, never have, and just can't come to terms with, is the date window 'eye' in actual use, i.e. when I wear it. I'll pause for the purists to finish yelling at me. Anyway, seeing as I absolutely love every single other aspect of mine and it isn't similar to any other offering (full disclosure, it's a Turn-O-Graph ref. 116264) - all I want to do is swap the crystal for a "flat" type as would be seen on the OP 36 no-date, or such. Anyone done this? Any advice on a good place to have such a service done? I do want to keep the WR correct, so making sure this is done properly and pressure tested after is important to me. I know, I know, the eye is a classic part of the design...but hey, I don't figure to sell this one and even if I do I can always have the original put back in, least in theory...right? Thanks for reading my little ramble and any advice guys! |

Lots of high end dealers do this on stella dials and vintage subs so Im sure many purists will come to your defense.

I have a vintage Air-King that came to me with a flat crystal. To me, it looked “off”. I wouldn’t call myself a purist, but I swapped the crystal and liked it better.
It’s easy enough to have a flat crystal installed on your watch. And if you don’t like it, just change it back. |

Your timepiece, your choice.
Wife has a very Frankin DJ36 and loves it. So just a crystal mod is easy to do / undo. Go for it!

Trust me, as you get older you'll develop an appreciation for the cyclops.
P.S. You have excellent taste.
