According to link, the auction was held in May 2008 and the watch was sold for 289,00 Swiss Francs. What a beaut!

Interesting that Christies don't even know when jet transatlantic flights started. Early October 1958, BOAC Comet, 26 October PANAMs first 707 [via Gander]. Therefore the GMT was invented in 1954 [design talks in 1953?] to cure a problem that didn't exist until 5 years later! Or has everyone been persuaded that the PANAM were THAT caring and farseeing for their treasured pilots. With firsthand knowledge of airline management I am more than a little sceptical. Doesn't affect the desirability of the watch, but I am amazed that in a forum as knowledgeable as this, that this jetlag myth is constantly repeated.

I myself would be inclined to "wear the bloody thing" as intended.
