I agree. It makes no sense to spend 40K on something you may want or like, hopefully, when you can buy the watch you want for 19K today and be done with it.

Bundle the DD and BLRO on a both or nothing basis from AD, or buy a gray Pepsi.

The idea of paying an AD for a watch you don't really want, just to build a relationship with said AD for a watch you may never get from the same aforementioned AD is ridiculous on its face.

Pay the gray for what you want, you'll be thousands $$ ahead.

I notice the champagne YG DD40's are offered at prices less than other dials. I think the suggestion of pricing the sale of a new champagne DD40 to one the Trusted Sellers is the best way to quantify the imbedded option premium, by selling the DD40 at a loss, on the hope of getting a Pepsi. There is a lot of risk assessing when and if you will get a Pepsi. What if higher priority clients want one in the meantime? What if the AD looses their Rolex franchise. In looking at 126710 Pepsi offer prices, you would have to pay ~9 to 10K over MSRP.

The OP seems to say that the price from the AD is $34.5k. 85% would put him at $29K and change. That doesn't seem out of the question for a private sale.

Your thinking appears to be upside down. Or maybe I'm not reading it right.

Bottom line, if you love it, buy it. If you don't, don't. I love the DD but don't like Romans. But that's me. I'm not you. I can't tell you what you like.

I would buy the DD40 and the SS Pepsi together, in bulk. If your AD can't do that, I'd pass.

Yeah he edited it after I commented to 34.5k with no tax. Makes it easier to digest then although still not a lot of sense.

ok, I am going against the grain here, why doesn't his plan make sense? especially, if he wants to get other watches afterwards in years to come. of course if it's just supposed to be the Pepsi then go grey by all means BUT if there are other watches he likes in the future definitely build that relationship.

Pretty much this. Without a bundle you have no guarantee of ever getting what you want.

I’ve been looking for one. If you pass on it I’ll buy it and you can use me as a referral to your AD.

Here's a basic rule of thumb - Don't buy what you don't want; ever... not worth it. I think this shortage is driving people almost crazy. Buy grey if you want to pay too much for a watch, otherwise wait a bit.

Unlike others I don't even think you'd lose 5% or whatever, I think it would be much, much, more. Reach out to some of the grey dealers and ask what "their buy price" is for the watch, and you'll see how parasitic they are.

Agreed!! These AD relationships are waaaaay overrated. Everyone claims to have a relationship still its the scarcity of the watches not the lack of relationships, especially if they’re gonna sell to whomever they want.

Any recommendations for best seller to get a new BLRO from?

We the public have no leverage. It's why buying jewelry from one of these places goes a mile.
IF every model Rolex is at MSRP, then there would be no need for the AD to offer as a "bundle". They will sell the "weaker" watch of the two at a discount on its own.
