Has Covid had an effect on the market?

Am about to buy (hopefully) my first DJ36 next month when the shops reopen in England after being shut for 3.5 months due to Covid. I have a couple of ADs I知 in contact with and between them they have, at present, what I知 looking for. Do I try and get a discount? Has the market stuttered at all do you think for me to try? One of the AD said he has the most stock in one place for the first time. Is a discount normally given or are the ADs not interested? New to this game. Thanks for your help.

You should try a search on this. Many topics already covered off on this ad nauseam.

Not a bit. A lot of deposable income that previously went to travel has gone into luxury items.

Well anyone with any common sense should know that this worldwide pandemic has affected product and supply to most all business. Simple answer when the ADs re-open just ask they will reply with either a yes or no.

Supply is down at least 20% from pre covid times. Demand has gone through the roof since a lot of people have money to burn and are bored... me included... on the bored part... due to covid. from what I’ve read on these forums the UK can be a very tough location to get any desirable pieces... not sure how in demand your exact piece is but like others have said visit a few dealers in person and see what happens... seems like there are no watches in cases in North America (most other parts of the world) other than ladies and PM with diamonds pieces at the moment... Let us know what happens..

1) No reason to "discount" Rolex by any amount.

2) Market is hotter than ever. No stuttering whatsoever.

Yes. People who can't travel or go out to restaurants because of restrictions have pent up $$ to burn. They're plowing that into luxury goods such as Rolex, and Rolex has reduced purposely it's available supply. So, it's a case of Economics 101 ... demand is up and supply is down; therefore, prices rise.

Doubt you will get a discount. Be glad they have in stock what you want. That is incredible.

At least one source showed Rolex's output off by about 20% last year. That's a big deal in a demand driven market.

Ok. Thanks. I’m not educated in the world of Rolex demand. It’ll be my first and no doubt last Rolex - or at least that’s what I’ve told hubby.

Good luck with that. As long as your finances will support it, you can't stop at just one...I speak from experience. My wife has even caught the bug. Waiting on her DJ36 right now...

If they have it now buy it and click and collect before someone else does - that's what I did in the UK

Also, who's your AD in the UK with all the stock?

I’ve never tried on a Rolex or seen the dials so I think I need to see them in person hence the wait. Am I doing the wrong thing? I’m unsure between bracelets or whether to flute or not.

The DateJust has been around for so long, with so many varieties and such broad appeal, questions like ‘should I get this or that?’ will return as many opinions as there as there are options.

Consider how you will wear it, every day use or dressed up, ask your spouse, look at all the photos you can. Fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet are the two signature design cues of the DJ, and Rolex, some consider this combo a bit more dressy but I like it under all circumstances. Then throw in the dials choices and the decisions become more difficult!!

Regardless, it is a fantastic watch, will look great on your wrist and fit any purpose. Good luck.

I think the market has been affected. People are now home browsing and buying watches to cure depression etc more than ever. Stock market is also booming and there is not much to spend money on like travel and those things so people have a lot of cash burning in their pockets. I think once things start to open up and become somewhat 'normal' we will see prices level down slowly.
