FSOT: Circa 1956 Rolex DateJust 6605
Hello everyone. Are you looking for a DateJust but looking for something a bit more unique than the ever-present 1601? Well, this might be the watch for you. Up for sale or trade is a very rare Circa 1956 Rolex DateJust 6605.
The DateJust began its life in 1945 with the introduction of ref. 6305. This watch featured Rolex's cal. A.295 (and later the upgraded A.296) was manufactured between 1945 and 1956. Next in line came the improved cal. 1065 and with it the DateJust 6604 and 6605. This reference number was manufactured for only three years between 1956 and 1956, at which point it was replaced by the considerably more common 160x series with the 1565/1575 movement. Given the short time frame that the 6605 was made, it is hard to argue that this reference number is among he most rare DateJust models. This particular one features an original red/black date disk, a machine engine-turned bezels, a beautiful textured silver Rolex service dial, gold Rolex Service hands, and black original second hand. This unique combination comes off beautifully on the wrist and is complimented by a dark brown crocodile leather strap. Inside, as expected, the watch has a recently serviced 1065 movement that is beating strong and keeping accurate time. Overall, the watch is in great vintage condition and is ready to be enjoyed by the new owner. I am asking $3800 (check bump posts for price adjustments and ant updated pics) via PayPal+fees (if you have good feedback / references), Zelle bank transfer, or Venmo. Have references here, WUS, Reddit, and 100% feedback on eBay. You can reach me via PM /[email protected]. For trades I am open to offers. Also, feel free to look at my other posts to see if you might be interested in a multi-watch trade (if you're interested in the gold-dial 6604 in the first picture check out my listings for details). However, if you are offering anything other than a straight trade, please let me know your proposal right away. Otherwise I will assume you're asking for a straight trade. Thanks for looking and click on any picture to see full-resolution version. |
