It’s to a Daytona, what a cayman is to a 911

Many great arguments for the Zenith. But for some (including me) a Daytona will always be a Daytona. Nothing wrong with that, IMHO.

Well given the unattainability of the Daytona, the Zenith is an alternative, but unfortunately it doesn't really light my fire

For those that complain the Daytona’s dial is too busy, the Zenith must be seizure inducing.

Looks awesome but not quite as gorgeous as Daytona.

I think if the 3 sub-dials not overlap and are the same color would looks better.

Nope. I like the Daytona much better, and I don't even like the Daytona (ceramic).

I passed on the Daytona twice and bought this immediately. Better movement and to me a far better size and more interesting dial. I got it in black and couldn’t be happier.

The Zenith fixed a lot of things I don't like about the Daytona. Larger case, date function, display case back, and more legible. Love it!

you don't have to 'like' it better than the daytona.

IT IS BETTER, If that movement was in the Daytona it would have a 18.000 USD list price.
In the Zenith it's even slightly cheaper than the Daytona with a less impressive movement ... only 1 reason ...

Marketing bullshit and the fact many less informed clients only buy the watch that has a specific name on the dial

This. PVP the zenith blows the rolex out of the water. Unless you’re on “insta” and feel the need to justify your existence to the people around you by wearing a slab of steel with 5 letters printed on it.

Hard pass. It’ll always be “not a Daytona” on the wrist.

Fantastic watch.
Prefer the absence of a date window, especially on a chrono.

How is that a bad thing if the Daytona cannot be had anyway?

I agree with you on that point Gus.

Otherwise, a fantastic watch in a lot of respects. I’m looking forward to seeing one in real life

But thats because you want a Rolex Daytona. Its like faulting a Navigator for not being a Cadillac.

At current “market prices” you can’t even compare the two. Hands down the far better watch is the Zenith. A $35k Daytona to a sub $10k is a no brainer. Even at the same price one could say the Zenith movement could be better but at the market price no comparison.

The closer analogy would be the Landwind X7 to the RR Evoque.

I think anyone who is buying this simply because they cannot acquire a Daytona is making a mistake and will eventually wind up selling it

Buy this watch because you like this watch, not as a substitute

Personally I'm not interested in a Daytona but I love this Zenith. The black in particular is a stunner.

I think the Zenith is a cool watch but is a watch that stands on its own. Comparisons naturally follow based on the appearance and Zenith's history with Rolex. The Zenith could be a fun watch and one I will look at when the prices calm down and a significant number hit the pre-owned market.

You know Zenith did something right when the Rolex crowd feel the need to defend their precious Daytona. Nothing wrong with the Daytona or Rolex in general, they’re very good watches at RRP, but some in here badly need a reality check. At current market prices no one in their right mind should take the Daytona over the Zenith. In fact, if I had 30k to spend i’d take the Zenith AND an Overseas and know I did very well.

No Daytona fan but the Zenith doesn't work for me for its 4:30 date. I like to have a date but prefer no date over any 4:30 date.

The new zenith is nice but personally I wouldn’t choose it over the Daytona at retail. Things that I don’t like about the zenith compared to the Daytona: bigger, thicker , not as good proportions, date window at 4p, overlapping and multi-colored sundials, inferior bracelet/clasp. As far as the movement goes , rolex Daytona had a decent PR and is +/- 2 seconds, which is good enough for me .

If in another world the Daytona would have a market value close to list and the zenith would sell with a 100% premium

EVERYBODY would want the zenith

All the rest is bullshit

Unfortunately way to many so called collectors want the hot pieces and that’s it.

Today you can contre a Bulgari shop and buy an octo finissimo.
If one day that octo would become as popular as a nautilus or Royal Oak, it would also have a 5 year waitlist and people will complain they can’t get one and it’s not fair.

5 years ago nobody wanted a Journe elegante. Today price X2 and 4 year waitlist
And now a lot of people want the elegante
The Journe CB was easy to get with a discount 6 years ago
Today price X2 and suddenly everyone wants one... 7 Year waitlist

Honestly... I’m sick and tired hearing that bullshit over and over again.
Stop buying what everyone wants, don’t be a sheep, don’t follow the crowd.
