The 39mm Explorer was Perfect!!!

I know a lot of people are celebrating the second coming of the 36mm, but let's face it, the 39 was perfect for many people as well.

If you have a large wrist, the 36 is just too tiny.

It is a sad day.

I like the idea of the 36, what it represents, but prefer 39 on my wrist. I gave my wife my 36mm black dial OP for that reason.

I couldn't agree more! 39mm was perfect. I tried everything to get one from an AD for the past year and couldn't do it. I'm sure the secondary market has exploded in price on them now. Smh

I think 36mm is a perfect size for the Explorer. I only wish they'd made it full yellow gold instead of TT.

Never liked the 39mm model proportions, think was a great move to bring back the 36 mm. The 39mm size is then officially dead for now (following the discontinuation of the 39mm OP size last year)

Rolex finally listened to the masses. 36mm is still the true size of THE explorer.

Couldn’t agree more.

Circa 11 year production run, 6 years for the Mk1 and 5 years for the MK2.

I’ll take that.

Did anyone else notice that Bob's Watches loaded up on Explorers of all varieties about a month ago, especially the 39mm Exp 1? Makes me wonder if they somehow knew something or just made a great guess.

The 39 mm one was my first Rolex, and it took a while to get it. Although some love the 36mm more, I suspect the 39 is a more popular size. Hopefully it returns someday for the people here that weren’t able to source one. I expect the secondary market for the old ones will be increasing, not that it matters much to a person like me, who will likely die before it changes hands.

I'm glad I got my 39mm Explorer a couple of months ago. I think it is absolutely perfect. However, I'm pretty excited - and massively surprised - they made the new one 36mm! I'm really anxious to see it in person.

I love the Explorer and I love two tones, but I'm not so sure on the two tone Explorer. I'll have to reserve judgement until I see it in person, but my initial reaction was a tad disappointed.

Also, I've been looking for a 36mm 114270 for my son and was frustrated that they were more expensive than the 214270's. Problem solved. I'll be getting him the new 36mm Explorer for sure.

We'll have the father/son (39/36) combo!

Bare in mind as well that a year of that MK2 production run was during Covid so overall I think there were probably a lot less MK2 produced than MK1.

If someone who is happy with Submariner, Milgauss, GMT etc. say Exp. 39 is big there is something wrong or never worn it.

I agree.

There is no better proportioned watch in the modern Rolex line than the 39mm Explorer.

I had Subs, Datejusts, OPs, Explorer 2......39mm is just perfect on the wrist.
While I like 36mm size....39mm is just right for this sport watch!

I dont see going back to 36mm a good move for the Explorer. They already have so much to offer in that size: Datejusts, OPs, DD and now the Explorer. Anyway, I am happy I got my 39mm Explorer, it is gonna become such a collectable watch!

It`s a new tradition starting this year: Take away one popular model and replace it with a TT model
