) How many “Get Off My Lawn” signs can one paint a day with the EXP 36 vs. EXP 39 ?

) Can one win more games of checkers with the EXP 36 vs. EXP 39 ?

Realistically the 36mm might be a better fitting watch for my wrist size, but the 39mm is still what I prefer as the modern update.

Just find it odd that every watch including some/several wants the Daytona to get larger... saying its too small. Yet the Explorer 1 should get smaller from the 39 to 36... because its classic? Every watch in the Rolex category has optioned for a bigger modern equivalent. And yes Daytona too... 36mm to 40mm... Not sure the argument on proportions. Its the one of the only Rolex with a cleaner dial and that is contributed by the fact that is a 39 instead of 36. I think you are cramming a lot more back into the 36 size.

The Explorer shouldn't have gotten bigger or smaller. It should've stayed the same. Best fitting piece in the modern catalogue at the 38/39 range that works on smaller and larger wrists.

Go figure with what they have in mind

I'm just happy they didn't butcher the overall design of it.... other than the TT.

Incredible move. I think they would have broken the internet if they went with the numerals from ref 1016, would have been ideally perfect. But this is still a great move. Don't understand the TT model, but hey is what it is.

I like Rolex’s trend towards a smaller diameter but overall I’m not impressed by the new releases. But, would I buy a new 36mm Explorer when I own a 36mm Datejust? No. Would I even consider a new Datejust or Explorer when Omega’s Seamaster AT 38mm is anti-magnetic, has a METAS certified movement that you can actually see thru the caseback, has handsome dials, and costs far less money? No. I do like the new Daytona Meteorite which I can’t afford or even find it ever at ADM retail if I could.

In the late 90s for those that were into watches then,my dealer could not keep the 36mm in stock .They were selling for over list price unheard of at that time.

Too right

The only watch I ever owned that I was asked if I would sell it by 2 different women was a 114270.
Sadly for them the number they had in their head was poles apart from mine.

It was too small on my wrist but perfect on theirs

Fair enough.
But what about those of us who have larger wrists where a 36mm watch looks rather tiny?
If we want to wear an Explorer style of watch, we have to more or less look to Omega for an equivalent as Rolex has completely abandoned us

Oh well, I suppose one has to look on the bright side.
There's always the hunt for second hand watches and the movement has a solid track record
