Rolex service center: Dallas or nyc?
Hey guys!
Sending my Milgauss GV in for service, would you choose Dallas or NYC? Have used NYC in past, but seems Dallas is popular here on forum... Thank you in advance for your help! Whitman |

Dallas overall receives much more praise, considering what I have read here in posts over the past few years.

Regardless of whatever anyone will tell you, you’ll get the same service regardless.

Don't send your OysterQuartz to Dallas for refinishing. Whoever did mine botched it bigtime. They must only be qualified for blending curves. OQs are NOT curved. They did very fine work on my Daytona.

Is your Milgauss still under warranty? Dallas always seems to win out on this question. It always worries me by just thinking when/if the time comes if I'd go RSC or an independent. If it was out of warranty I'd go independent.

I used Dallas few times, excellent job! except last year, I sent my platinum YM for complete service, when it came back, there's a dirt visible by naked eye on the dial, i took pictures and emailed Dallas RSC, they ask me to send it back and they fixed the problem. I can't believe it though that they did not see it before sending it back to me.. maybe because of Covid19 :)

Rolex service center: Dallas or nyc?
Have used NY RSC without issues.
There is a different set of skills and inventory required for unique models. You might consider that may be a factor on an older, less common model. The basic DJ is going to be done at either site in same or similar manner. The 1987 Root Beer GMT needing special attention could be a different story. Keep in mind all repair parts hit NYC first, after clearing customs. The greater inventory is there. Dallas orders spare parts based upon its “run rate” algorithm based on work performed in the past. Earlier this year I had the same choice to make and went with Dallas. They did a great job of fixing (so far anyway) my DJ41, which suffered the dreaded way out of spec time loss. My minimal research on the topic showed that more people had better experiences with Dallas than NYC.

Had horrible experiences with Dallas a few years ago. Had both my and wife's Datejust sent there for cleaning, etc., after 25 years of trouble free service since their purchase new. Both went back, mine 3 times and my wife's 2. Perhaps the same guy worked on them. My wife's still doesn't keep correct time.
I dropped mine a year ago or so resulting in having to wind it daily. I'd like to have it serviced but after the Dallas experience, I'm hesitant to send to any Rolex center. |
