Purchasing 2 Datejust 36's - is this enough leverage?
Wife wants to buy her mom a new Rolex
I want to buy my wife a new Rolex turns out both of them may want the same watch https://www.rolex.com/watches/dateju...6233-0023.html datejust 36, 2 tone, mother of pearl dial with diamond markers $16,500 MSRP we have zero history with any Rolex AD all previous Rolex watches have been purchased through grey market Trying to figure out if this might be enough leverage to get a new Pepsi bundled into the purchase If you don't think it's enough, go ahead, flame me for being a newbie. If you think it is enough, how do I make it work? seems like even the Datejust 36 are slow to stock I don't want to buy the 2 datejusts and end up waiting forever for a Pepsi but I know the AD would not sell me the Pepsi first if I haven't purchased the Datejusts first so how would this work out in the real world? |

So you are asking if your AD will magically make a Pepsi appear from the back if you buy two DJ36s? My guess is no. The way it would work in the real world is you would ask your AD instead of an internet forum. |

You tell them you would like to purchase two of those datejust for your wife and her mother but want a Pepsi for yourself. Ask what they can do for you. Don't let them be flakey and get some commitment on the Pepsi before buying the two watches. You are totally within the realm of possibility to ask for a Pepsi if spending 32k on TT diamond Dial ladies datejusts.

I, personally, would phrase it more like: "I'm looking for three watches, X, Y and Z; can you tell me whether you have them or if not, can get them?"
See how they respond. You should be able to feel out whether they're looking to help you, trying to string you along, or have no interest in dealing with you at all. Otherwise, it sounds a little like you're looking for the minimum number of less desirable watches you need in order to get a Pepsi. |

Are you in LA?
Guessing 32K in total spending will not get you far out there... |

I would say you would definitely be promised one within the next two years wherever you are in the world.

Also, I’d make sure to work in what the purpose of each watch is (to demonstrate you’re not looking to do some flipping, and are interested in a longer term relationship). Perhaps it’ll also depend on the associates motivation to move two TT DJs that day. One other option: diversify. Buy one DJ from each of two dealers to start a relationship. |

i find in situations like this (as with pretty much everything else) it's best to just be direct. go to the SA and ask them. if they say "well, we can put you on the list and see what happens." then it's essentially the same as "no." or maybe you'll get lucky and they'll say "yes." there is zero downside to just being direct and seeing where it goes.

good feedback
thank you, all i didn't want to waste an opportunity to jump up the "list" at an AD for a desirable watch by bundling several watches together I will definitely be upfront about what I'm looking for and why now to figure out which AD ... and even which SA to work with |

It might be enough depending on the AD. Your best bet is probably a mom n pop AD.

32k is enough to get your foot in the door. Ask the SA if it’s possible to get one with that spend, and move on to another one if you don’t like what you hear. Just be prepared for a long wait no matter what.

If all else fails: “Half now, half when the job is done.”
Tell them you’ll buy one of the DJ now, no strings, and the second the moment your Pepsi comes in. |

Go to Rolex boutique in your city and tell them that you want to purchase 2 Datejust 36mm (MOP with diamonds dial) and Pepsi at the same time. When do they think you can have them?
The boutique get Pepsi every month, I don't think it's hard for them to bundle for you. It might take 1-3 months max. SA would love to sell 3 watches at the same time so they will try to bundle Pepsi for you.

How many ADs are there you can visit? I'd definitely try, make sure you leave your details with them, they may end up with the right stock and right desire to offload and viola. I think it's definitely enough but would not pull the trigger until one could get you all of them on the same day. Be clear and stick to your guns. Especially if time is on your side, I think this is possible..... depending on the country...

What is the grey market price on the Lady DJs?
Is it possible the money you save going Grey on the DJs will offset going Grey on the Pepsi? Wont do anything for your future purchase prospects, but I'm not sure 2 Lady DJs and a Pepsi (if you can actually get one) will get your name on the list for a Daytona or similar... |

I see all these "plans of action" to get this or that on the forum ..I have always asked the dealers outright .90% I hear the truth . Sometimes I get what I didnt even really asked for .. (One is heading my way this week ) Be straight up and its most likely to serve you well . Also ,dont expect instant gratification ,it may take years . In 20 years I have never bundled or jewelled or deposited ...or spelunked. |

Purchasing 2 Datejust 36's - is this enough leverage?
You should at least get a sub out of this.
Pepsi is likely a $50k "relationship" minimum.

I’m a fan of telling the SA why you want the watch and if it’s for something special. I think a bundle could easily be done here.

I don't believe that will leverage as much as some people think? Though it may be enough. Those TT DJ 36 are going at or above MSRP, just check your favorite Grey or Chrono 24. This isn't a ladies 28, 36 is still on demand. I recently purchased a TT DJ 36 with diamonds and it wasn't very easy to source and I've never seen one on display at my AD.

Anyone into any sort of bundling game to get one of the so called hot watches, either must have more money than sense, or be sixpence short of a shilling IMHO.

Yes I believe that would get you the Pepsi. Since you are planning to buy those two Datejusts anyway I would ABSOLUTELY use that to pick up a sport model of your choosing. Go to several AD's - you will get that Pepsi

You are asking the wrong people. You need to ask the AD/SA.

2-tone ladies DJ should get you enough leverage for a sport Rolex. Good luck!
