DD with another dial if not DD, this watch is an ICON and more exclusive only to PM, beautiful history as well.

I’ll definitely go with the sub. I like being able to time things on the bezel. The DD is a little too dressy for my taste. I’m pretty casual these days.

There are a lot of variables for me like what the rest of your collection looks like and how you wear and feel about those watches. I also think you have to think about how you plan to use it and when you plan to wear it.

Based on the little info I have, I’d say DD just simply because it’s so iconic. Especially as a PM model. Not that the submariner isn’t iconic but… it’s certainly much more common.

Just based on “which yellow gold watch would you choose” with no other info, I go for the DD all day. If the WG Sub was in there, I might choose that.

Depends. Do you want to be a baller or a wannabe?

I’ve/am struggling with that same question.

The Daydate makes more sense on paper. Gold makes more sense on a “dress watch.” But a gold sub just has more “wow.”

Told you guys already the ONLY solution is to buy both.

If it doesnt happen now you'll eventually get both I'm 100% sure on it. Be it together at the same time or several years apart you'll have both eventually.

That's the conclusion I came to so I went with Sub first ... and as @peterpl points out, yes, I will someday own both. DD40 is a classic watch. The sub packs a lot of punch. No need to choose between these heavyweight champs. Plenty of fiat out there in time.
