Not a daily for me, but nothing compares to my DD. There is a reason it’s the Rolex flagship model. Simply nothing like it.

Serious question, without insulting anybody as any model DD is superior to my skyD, but why did rolex combine Roman numerals with stick markers? I’m not sure why but it throws me completely out of whack. Am I the only one who is bothered by this? Lol.

My guess is the dial would be way overcrowded with all Roman numerals.

What do you mean combine romans with stick markers? Dial is either Romans or stick, not both

I assume he means why does Rolex offer both.

I don't think so... look at the dial. It's not all romans. It's a mix of single sticks and romans

Yes this is what I meant. Looking at it closer I would imagine it’s because it seems they can’t fit “XI” properly in the 11 spot. So it makes sense what they did.

Still throws me off for some reason. I suppose if I ever can manage to swing a DD I’ll have to go with sticks only. Lol

I'm assuming that Rolex did this for the sake of symmetry and to keep the dial clean / less cluttered. In the same vein, kinda like why a 4 on watches is depicted as IIII rather than IV. Symmetry. The watchmakers 4..

Do you love it? Do you daily it? What’s it like on the wrist compared to a SS sports model? Could it be your one and only?

Love any feedback! Thanks all!
Have you seen my blog of the 40mm yellow gold DD?

Love the DD40 (yellow gold, silver dial). I have the deconstructed Roman numeral dial (Roman numerals at every second number). Some advantages over romans at every number include that the date and 9 are better balanced, and the day gets framed nicely. In addition, the material used/cut of the material seems to the same as on the bezel, so it really integrates the dial and the bezel. No lume though. I figured that other watches have lume, and I didn’t want to think about reluming one day…

I wore a DayDate every day for ten years, until I purchased additional watches. I am partial to white romans.
