My first Rolex to celebrate my first son

Finally got my first Rolex to celebrate this milestone of having my first son + other things in my life! I plan to pass it to him eventually. Late post but I got it on Father's day a couple of weeks back and officially brought her out on July 1st (Canada Day). First Rollie, first son, first of the month!

This is going to be the one watch that I will wear daily so I did a lot of research and have been looking at it for probably 2-3 years now. I've also looked at the Batman, the Sub, Omega Speedy etc. Even though I own the watch now, it's still stunning whenever I come across a photo of it even though they all look the same! It never gets old. The design is flawless in every angle. The matte dial, red line, cyclops, HEV makes it very special.

I thought this thing was on battery, it runs so freaking long! I fully wind it on Mon, wore it on the same day and Thurs for a couple of hours and it is still running today (Sat)! This thing is gorgeous. Every night when I put my baby to bed, I would have the box opened beside me while I catch up on forums and just listen to the bezel. I got a 2x, 10x, 35x magnifier to check out all the details of this beauty!

Fun Facts: From 12-6 the hour marker will line up with the X, from 6-11 it will line up with the R perfectly in the middle. Rolex

I was hesitant to get it at first due to the size and weight but I know I won't be happy with any other watch. I pulled the trigger and in the end, it doesn't even feel as big and heavy as what many claim.

To all the smaller wrists out there, go for it. My wrist is 6.75", flat and it fits just right! I'm also a taller guy, medium built and on the mirror, it looks like a sub. With the slimmer lugs, it's not your typical 43mm. The dial is the same size as a sub, just the bezel is bigger. The internet can be confusing with so many opinions but you just got to trust your guts!

This watch brings me peace and calmness every time I put it on. Is that odd? Anyone else feels this?

Cheers guys

I wish I have a better camera

Congratulations. I have 2 sons. I got one a hulk and one a Pepsi. And when they graduate high school or college I’ll give them to them. It’s special

You need to add that second picture to the "what do you drive?" thread.

Congratulations on both achievements! I had a similar story. My wife surprised for my birthday and first Father’s Day with a GMT. I bought her a DJ a little over a year ago after failing to procure a Rolex for myself…then the market went crazy and I lost interest. I must having visited a dozen ADs and all gave me the cold shoulder. My wife says she bought the Rolex just so that I won’t drag her into another dealer and embarrass myself trying to buy a watch :). Sadly her plan has backfired and now that I have one I dream of having another!

Congratulations, I did the same thing also. My first Rolex Submariner 116610LN is for him. I'm waiting for the right time. I was fortunate to have picked up my second Rolex Sea Dweller 126603 two tone, steel and gold. This one is my new baby. The feeling you get putting it on is "Pure ecstasy". It's a great feeling and enjoy the ride.

Congrats! My wife recently surprised me for Father’s Day (my first) and my birthday with a GMT. I bought her a DJ last year after always wanting a Rolex myself…then the market went crazy and I gave up temporarily. In the interim she surprised me with a nicer Rolex than I would have bought myself! Hope my daughter enjoys wearing A GMT. :)

Congratulations on your son! If he grows up watching you wear the watch, it will be a very meaningful gift.
