Do you compliment strangers on their Rolex or do they compliment you on your Rolex?

I was just curious if you compliment strangers on their Rolex or do strangers compliment you on your Rolex?

I don't compliment strangers and was wondering and hoping that it isn't bad manners? I also don't have strangers complimenting me on my Rolex. Does it have to do where you live?

That must be interesting! I wonder if they have a fake Rolex and they are too ashamed to say anything?

Same here. I think sometimes people just feel uncomfortable talking about expensive items with people they don't know and are unsure how to react.

But when I am wearing a Rolex too? I try to avoid (s)talking when I am wearing a watch other than a Rolex.

x2, I don't know if people think I am being judgmental or not, so now I just do not say a thing. I have offered to buy watches off people's wrist though!

I often do, but some just seem to have the mindset that 'it's just a watch' !? Not to me it's not !!!

I do not like to draw attention to a stranger's Rolex. Usually, they will compliment me on the one I am wearing.

I love trading around, so if I see one on a stranger that I feel is approachable then I always comment. Sometimes they roll their sleeves down and walk off, sometimes I get a nod and a smile, then youd be surprised how many 2 hour long conversations have been started by a comment; and some of those have resulted in a new watch for me

If I were to spot a Rolex in the wild, and actually had time to talk with that person about thier watch, I most certainly will !

I was at an AD yesterday looking at a Yachtmaster, the fellow next to me was looking for datejusts. I noticed he had a TT sub and complimented him on it. He pretty much blew me off, even though I was wearing a sub (LV) too.

Not all Rolex owners are as chatty as us.

Usually people just stare at my wrist and when I catch them they look away real quick, especially with the DD, although I have had people verbalize their interest. I've commented on other's a couple of times, but they were not as enthusiastic as I was about them so I've just kind of resorted to doing my watch watching in quiet.

nope...

its asking for rudeness up close and personal. Its best left far, far away.

I have peeps say things to me about mine and I just say, its not a ROLEX and either they get a funny smirk and walk away or they say, itsa fake ha ?

If they look lk they hv some means I ask em if they want to buy it, that shuts em down pretty quick. Or another thing I will say is, with a mean look, "yea, I just stole it ! " now you can guess that the look on these peeps is certain, "get me the hell outta here," as I lunge toward em kiddingly - that draws the best reaction ~ Priceless !

I have complimented others, but they usually don't say much.

I got a few with the LV. None with the YM...I think it's too subtle.

i almost always compliment a rolex-wearer...but Im also very "quick about it"...and i normally wait for a situation where you would normally say something anyhow....for example...I was in line for coffee the other day..I had on my deepsea..and a gentleman was wearing a beautiful yellow gold DD...as they called my order up I politely said " excuse me (as I stepped up to get my coffee) and he raised his hands and said "oh sure..go ahead..and politely moved.." ..i then said " thank you and thats a beautiful timepiece, sir"....he smiled and noticed mine...and said " thank you..you as well"...and I wished him a good day and he responded well...It all depends on the situation I think...
