Tudor 79180 vs. 79280
There are already a couple older threads on this (here and elsewhere) but none seem to have complete info.
I'm hoping someone can chime in on the differences between this models besides what I've outlined here. I know the crown may be marked differently, 79180 has the Oysterdate dial (vs. the Prince Date, or Tiger in some models), and the 180 also often comes on the oyster bracelet vs. the smaller link more modern one. But, are there other notable differences? I hate those Tiger dials, but I've seen a number of 79280s with non-tiger dials that are growing on me, and appear to be a viable alternate to the more pricey 79180. Am I missing any notable differences? Would also love to know any history between white and the champagne/silver dials. Did both models come with both dials as options at some point? Thanks!! |

The cases are totally different. 791xx has a much thicker case; in fact the thickest until Rolex produced the Deepsea. Caseback is marked Rolex, crown also and early models had Rolex Oyster bracelet too.

Just replaced my previous "Tiger" model with this one. Couldn't be happier. |
